I hate the term "hard pass". Can't really explain why other than it makes no f'ing sense to me.

It's just a personal preference. You do what you do, Tom.

Jokes on you... in 2049 this is no offsides.

Offsides has been found to be non-gender-inclusive and wholly culturally-appropriative and, thus, was removed permanently from the NHL.

Plus it's a trigger word causing micro-aggression.

Hard pass on both Guluztan and Deboer.

Fair but they were just examples I was using.

Who do you think is a better option?

Implying that one side is "good" and the other is "bad" is indicative of a non-inclusive culture and negatively-linear thinking that implies there is only one "correct" side of the blueline.

He's going to get rehired by the Islanders, so he's out.

all sorts of bloggers speculating about the Rangers moving up to 2nd overall, trading with Carolina.

To me, if they pulled that off, it's gotta be for Zadina to pair him with Chytil

- jimbo83

Do u think they’d trade down and not pick Svechnikov at 2? Seems like he’s the better player.

Sharks have to blow it up . Just shows you can be a competitive team by rebuilding on the fly but it won’t put them over the top . Once teams figure this out it take 3-5 years unless they draft (luck out ) and get a generational talent.

I am not sold at all that Svenchikov is better than Zadina. He may be. He may not be. It's a very close call.

I agree it’s very close, I think Svechnikov has a slight edge in most places I’ve read.

Svechnikov is just good. He's not really going to make anybody go "Wow". But he's just a smart and skilled hockey player. He reminds me of Patrick Sharp but better.

I also like his production better than Zadina's. Zadina plays on the premier team in a very high-scoring league. Svechnikov scored 4 fewer goals (and 10 fewer points) in 13 less games than Zadina did playing on the 4th best team in the league. Not that "4th best" is terrible and Svechnikov persevered playing on some bottom-wrung team, but I certainly wouldn't put Barrie on par with the way Halifax is viewed in the Q. I don't think there's a big gap between them, but I do like Svechnikov a bit more than Zadina.

I think Svechnikov is the more pro ready player, while Zadina might have the higher skill potential. I think Zadina playing really well on Halifax only adds to his draft stock, not subtracting from it. Considering recently has produced the likes of Meier, Hischier, Drouin, Mackinnon and Ehljers.

I'm not necessarily saying playing for Halifax is a detriment to Zadina, in my eyes, but I don't know if I agree that it would add to his value either. He's a really good player with a top-tier supporting cast around him.

He was put in a position to be successful and he took full advantage of it, but I'm not sure he gets a pat on the back for it either.

In the end, I pretty much view them as interchangeable. If CAR is looking for a complete, do-it-all forward that figures to be a steady 1st/2nd line presence, they'll take Svechnikov. If they want a speedy, skilled guy then Zadina should be the pick.

Essentially we're saying the same thing.
