We have multiple young players who are somewhere between the AHL and the NHL. I'd rather see Liepsic and Goldobin get a shot next year than resign Vanek and Hansen. If Pettersson shows up to camp and plays well enough to earn Greens respect, he should be on the team to start the year. - NorthNuck
Neither has shown they could play a full NHL season. I would be happy with them being among the first to be called up when an older UFA gets injured or another seasoned veteran. |

i'd like to see Goldobin and Liepsic make the team too. They have already spent some time in the pro's and AHL and have shown that they can play.
Pettersson, Gaudette and OJ are different.
They need to really stand out and blow the coaches away to make the team (like Brock). |

You want to see an SHL team play an AHL team because of seal scoring rates?
(I don't even know what "seal" stands for. I just know that younger players that come over from the SHL have a much higher scoring rate then AHL players)
Generally speaking, a 5th OA pick "should" have an easier transition into the NHL then a 5th round pick. - manvanfan

I have no idea what a seal rate is? I think of it as Lefty ordering hot dogs at a Canuck game |

I wouldn't say Gaudette struggled. He didn't produce but he didn't struggle. Petterson is a far superior prospect to Boeser. - CanuckDon
Well I guess It's all subjective, I didn't think Gaudette really showed that he belongs in the NHL. I was expecting quite a bit more especially just finishing playing in the highest level of College competitions.
If as you claim Pettersson will be better than Boeser, then the Canucks are definitively on the road to improvement. And I will be more than pleased to be wrong and admit that. |

I don't want to choose who to respond to so I will just post
I think EP will have a better career points wise than Boeser, though I see Boeser having more goals. EP will likely take 1-2 years to get used to NA ice. It is highly unlikely he gets beat out of a top 9 spot unless we go shopping this offseason. Even while adjusting he will likely be better than all but 3 or 4 of our forwards. |

Failed logic.... it's highly more likely ep gets blown up and has a shortened career do to his feminine frame. I'd give odds Boeser has a longer NHL career and likely ends with more points... career wise |

So JV was the right choice over Ehlers and Nylander?
They have small frames as well, so they will also likely have shortened careers due to injury and JV will last a very long time because he is built solid.
I see Boeser being a regular 30-40g guy getting around 70pts a year. I see EP getting 25-30g but 80+ a year. |

I'm not nearly as optimistic as several here are, if this guy is truly a star in the making why would the Canucks rush to ruin his development like they have with a few other players.
Playing in Sweden is not the same as playing in the AHL. I am against rushing players not everyone can produce like Boeser did. Gaudette struggled and I expect Pettersson to struggle. - Makita
We'll see if Gaudette struggles. Hard to judge with those few games he played.

I have no idea what kind of career Petersson will have...predicting injuries or season totals as a mature player seems way too far sighted for me.
I think the original discussion was about if EP will make the team next year, (which seems an easier thing to predict at this point) and if he will out produce the year Brock had.
My prediction is that he does ok in camp, is sent to the AHL, gets called up at some point and sticks with the team, but does not have the same kind of year as Boesser and is not a calder finalist. |

So forwards 170-180 pounds don't have lengthy careers typically because they are fragile.... even the gifted ones?

If Pettersson makes the team next year our PP will be insanely fun to watch, I hope Green doesn't hold him off of valuable ice time like he's had to with JV - NorthNuck
that's kind of why i want hughes
BB -> QH -> EP
any of the 4d should work though |

I think if EP makes the team(likely not hard to do) he will start slow and finish strong. Probably about an even year I would say. I could see EP being a top 3 finalist for Calder if he makes it. |

I don't expect OJ to make the team this year. It would be a nice surprise if he could secure a spot but if not we have a million 5/6/7/8 dmen to fill the spots till he's ready.
Counting up forward roster spots:
Horvat Boeser Baertschi Sutter Eriksson Granlund Gagner Virtanen and probably Archibald
That leaves 3 slots, assuming we don't want any of the young guys being 13th forward.
Goldobin, Liepsic, Pettersson, Gaudette, Gaunce, Dahlen, Boucher is likely to be enough to fill those 3 slots imo. The rest can go to Utica. I think the only reason to look at UFA forwards would be to have something to sell at the TDL and even then it better only be 1 guy. |

If i was gonna guess on the order of filling those 3 slots (from coach Green's pov), i'd put it like so:
Gaunce
Goldobin
Liepsic
Gaudette
Pettersson
Boucher
Dahlen |

I just spent 5 days in the hospital almost died last week. The nurse told me I was a medical wonder. Some of the nurses actually shook my hand. She told me that the pain threshold for a normal flu is 200 . My pain threshold was over 8000. They put me on IV for three days and it returned to normal. I had a reaction to a new med they put me on a few weeks earlier . I can not begin to tell you how painful it was but it was 400 times stronger than a Flu.
For the next two months only liquid meals no alcohol and no fun.
