Saw this on the world-wide interweb, "Tampa has reached the Eastern Conference final for the third time in four years", that's pretty damn impressive even though they haven't won a Cup recently. A lot of winning hockey!

I wonder how many cups Van could have won with a number 1 OA pick and a generational defensemen added to the Sedin's
It's not even drafting, Tyler Johnson, Yanni Gourde, Jon Marchessault. 3 of the best undrafted prospects in the past 8 years. Only Panarin has probably had a better season then any of them. |

I said pardon? Tampa only has two top five picks right now, Stamkos and Hedman. Back in 2011 the Canucks had two with Daniel & Henrik. So a 1st & 2nd vs a 2nd & 3rd...splitting hairs there.
Tampa has a great team because of drafting, Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Hedman, Killorn, Namestnikov, Palat and Vasilevskiy all draft by Tampa, that's seven of their top 10 scorers and their starting goaltender.
Hopefully the Canucks can get there with Benning or the next GM. The 2011 team was largely constructed that way, through the draft. Daniel was 2nd overall, Henrik was 3rd overall, Edler, Kesler, Raymond, Hansen, Bieksa, Schneider, Tanev and Hodgson all drafted by the Canucks. |

I wonder how many Canucks fans will become Seatte fans when they get a team and make it to the conference finals in their inaugural season |

Current Canucks 1st round picks under the age of 23, not great but not bad either.
Horvat 9th overall
Virtanen 6th overall
Pettersson 5th overall
Juolevi 5th overall
Boeser 23rd overall
Current Canucks 2nd round picks under the age of 23, give that a
Lind 33rd overall
Demko 36th overall
Gadjovich 55th overall
Current Canucks 3rd round picks under the age of 23, again a
Brisebois 66th overall
Lockwood 64th overall
DiPietro 64th overall |

maybe....I think the Knights got fortunate with a few players, Tallon was dumb to let Marchessault go, he could've protected him but he chose to protect some young defensemen...idiot! As an example. |

VGK is showing that you don't need the most spectacular D to win. Pitt last two years didn't have a very flashy D either.
I don't have a problem drafting Dobson at 7. I wouldn't draft Hughes, Boqvist, Bouchard at 7.
It seems a bit weird but unless it's a can't miss defender like Hedman, Jones, Werenski, Provorov, Trouba. I think Dobson is a can't miss defender at 7.
If Wahlstrom is there, I would draft him. Would be a real log jam on the right side though. Pitt is doing it with scoring, they started winning cups when Kessel came and they added a 3rd top 10 scoring forward.
You can get a good defender in the second round or mid-later first round. |

I agree, I would take Dobson at seven, if he's gone, take a talented forward like Wahlstrom and convert him to center if he doesn't play center. His bio says he's a winger and a center. A guy who can skate like that can be taught to play center.
Linden played wing in the WHL for the Tigers, Pat Quinn is the one who converted him to a center. It can be done. |

I would also take TKachuk at 7. If they are all gone. I would seriously consider trading down to Philly for both 1sts. Pick two players there. Hope for a draft lottery win next season. |

I know it would be a rather unpopular decision with most here but I would take on Speeza's contract and Seabrooks albatross. Thats pretty much all 14 million but you could then trade tanev or guds. Send Granlund for Speeza. Also send Hutton for Seabrook and nashville 1st.
Something along those lines. Would still leave Van with a couple million in cap space but also drafting 3 times in the first round. Trading Tanev also might get a 1st in return.
The cap recapture on Seabrooks contract to haunt Chi. Also id rather Seabrook mentor Dobson and OJ then Tanev. |

Yes I know, he was essentially drafted by the team like Burrows, he spent parts of three years with our American League team developing and he's never played for anyone else but technically you're right. |

Spezza yes, Seabrook no, they'd have to pay a HIGH premium to even consider it. |

I just spent 5 days in the hospital almost died last week. The nurse told me I was a medical wonder. Some of the nurses actually shook my hand. She told me that the pain threshold for a normal flu is 200 . My pain threshold was over 8000. They put me on IV for three days and it returned to normal. I had a reaction to a new med they put me on a few weeks earlier . I can not begin to tell you how painful it was but it was 400 times stronger than a Flu.
For the next two months only liquid meals no alcohol and no fun.

Anyone else think we could get Haydn Fleury out of Carolina?
I would let them have Baertschi and Granlund, they add a 7th.😁 |
