I hope you've realized that you haven't just replaced Pommer, etc. with Asplund, etc. You've also replaced Asplund, etc. with yet another wave of cheap players. Realistically, a few of these guys will play well enough to deserve a reasonable second deal.

If we move the 2 contracts that are most often brought up, ROR and Okposo, then you could fit it.

But those two produced 105 points last year for $13.5 (on a bad year for Okposo, and you'd be spending $12m for between 66-85 points for JT.

I don’t disagree that it might be a bad idea to sign him, but the production is the least of the concerns.

It just boils down to whether you can have more than 2 extremely high salaries and compete for a cup, and I think Eichel and Dahlin are the two you absolutely will be paying.

However, if JT would sign, I would be moving players for picks left and right to stock the cupboards with cheap role players on rookie deals.

I don't think its affordable though cause you're looking at adding $19 million in salary with Tavares and Kovi

The forward in Okposo's place is making $1.5, in order to equal that $13.5 number, so basically you're adding a Girgensons. Either that, or you're adding even more salary, and a longer contract with enormous expectations, and you're paying him more than your franchise center, and we have Mittelstadt at center. It's so much risk for a player at a position of strength, where we already have redundancies. Like I said, a big time winger like Kucherov, by all means, open the pocket book. I just think JT is the wrong guy at the wrong time

The difference is Kovi's deal would be a 2 year 3 year max deal. I mean he is 35 already.

So before Dahlin's contract kicks in he is gone

But if you moved ROR and bought out Bogosian you have no issues short term and better long term, better but not there yet

You missed quite a bit of back an forth...I added in a 3.25% salary increase annually to account for Salary growth in line with the anticipated Cap increase.

I mean, the Cap is a hard stop, so it can’t be exceeded obviously.
Given that, certain players may need to be sacrificed to pay some.

But here is the outlook in 3 years time, again who knows how these prospects will turn out...but that is a Scouting/Drafting issue not a Cap issue
