Im going to go out on a limb and say that Bogosian retained plus Fasching will not be the best offer the caps receive for Grubauer
- Sabresfan-365

lol, think you're very safe on that one! A 2nd rounder is worth more than that package.

"When you finish where we were, you have to look at everything," he said. "That means looking at even changing up some of our core players. From a free agent standpoint, we'll be involved in free agency. But I'm a believer that you just can't build a team just through free agency. It has to come from within our organization."

Over half of Pittsburgh’s Cup winning teams were from free agency or trade

A potential top4 defenseman for 2.5mil...
and no one is giving up a 1st for him
(I don’t think anyways)
So if we have to make it pick 32 to make it happen, we’ll there ya go
I really don’t see anyone beating that offer

Malkin, Crosby and Letang were all picks.

That’s the building blocks of those teams

I don't get it....Bogosian retained + Fasching has no pick involved.

I like Grubauer, but he's going to cost more, then you have to pay him and he's your #1. All fine by me, just not sure I see them going that route.

Well he did say fasching like prospect or pick....but he also called Bogo a top four d-man so

Fleury & Murray too
And Guentzel & Dumoulin

But also MANY contributors who weren’t home grown
Like i said, over half the team came from elsewhere

We also have building blocks that we drafted
EVERYONE needs to add to their drafted talent though

Pitt doesn’t win those Cups without Kessel, Bonino, Hagelin & Hornqvist (plus others)

Sidenote : I think the bills found their franchise quarterback
- gerbe75pts

Quite a change from the last few months saying he was the 5th best QB in this class. I respect your opinion on matters but stuff like this brings down your credibility.

Common tactic, take the players you want to get off the roster and take a one-sided optimistic look at them. It's like a used car salesman.

Any suggestion that Fasching and a 2nd rounder are close in value is absurd.

I said Fasching-like prospect
OR a pick

And I’m guessing he’d cost similar to Darling, which was i think 4 years & just over 4mil

I think this is our lineup next year. Obviously the spots are interchangeable and the log jam at LHD will eventually force Botts to move someone but:

New guy-Eichel-Okposo

Wilson-ROR-Reinhart

Low risk guy-Mittelstadt-EROD

FA signing-Larsson-Pominville

Scandella-Ristolainen

McCabe-Bogosian

Dahlin-Nelson

Depth guy

Guhle-Pilut on stand by when a lefty is moved

New Guy
Ullmark

- Sabresfan-365

I can't watch Larsson anymore just can't do it

As we sit today
?-Eichel-?
?-ROR-Reinhart
Smith-Mittelstadt-Pominville
Wilson-?-Baptiste

Maybes?
Bailey, Nylander, Malone, Okposo, Girgensons, Larsson, O'Regan
Olofsson/ Asplund start in Rochester

Dahlin-Risto
Scandella-Nelson
Guhle- Bogosian

McCabe/ Beaulieu/ Pilut

Ullmark

Not sure why keeping RoR is defended so much here. We need to move him now to get younger and faster. RoR still have plenty of value and we need to capitalize on that.

We have Eichel just starting his first post-ELC contract and our new core is young.

We should be moving RoR now and let someone else pay him 7.5 mil when hes a middling 3rd line center in 2 years.

Yeah no, they won't. He sucks dude. You can die on that hill for ROR but there's literally no statistic, basic or advanced and no kind of eye test that would suggest he's anything more than a 3rd pair guy

Great write up:

Gerbe - how come no grade for finishing 5 points out of 30th? 1st team to come in 31st in nhl history.

If you believe jbotts was trying to assemble a winning team- he should get an "F"

I give jbotts an "A+" for a great tank successful season

Well played Jbotts
