Yeah, Sasha wanted to push the shock value of Freddy's lifestyle but the band mates wanted to push the music and its creation. - bloatedmosquito
sasha said queen wanted the movie to focus mostly on the band continuing on after freddie, for like 1/2 the film. the film maker said thats not what the movie is about so queen blocked the movie.
personally I think sasha would have been great in the role
freddie was a superstar. My fav rock voice of any male vocalist!

No doubt, Freddy Mercury is the greatest male vocalist of all time, and had he lived, probably Queen would have surpassed the Stones and maybe even the Beatles for best band of all time.
My favorite classic rock bands
1) Queen
2) Led Zepplin
3) Rolling Stones
4) AC/DC
5) Def Leppard
6) Poison
7) Pink Floyd
8) U2
9) Fleetwood Mac
10) Steppenwolf

guitar world had the contest, they did it in rounds and featured every single major guitarist. Every month guitar players voted and players would advance or be eliminated. In the final round it was Brian may vs EVH with eddie taking the crown.
It went to show how much respect and admiration brian may has
Before I dive into the hockey talk, I will add my voice of praise for Brian May, Freddie Mercury and Queen.
Queen was my first concert. I only knew a couple of the AM radio songs so I was very confused, but I was amazed. I think that's where my impressionable young mind locked in on wanting to learn everything I could about music.
I saw Queen with Adam Lambert last year in Vancouver. Obviously not the same, but Freddie's presence was very much a part of the show. It was emotional and technically amazing.
Now - the blog. I'm on the train to Copenhagen, where Canada will play Russia in the quarterfinal when the knockout round begins on Thursday, and Anders Nilsson will try to foil those pesky Latvians.

Queen gets lost in the shuffle a bit in the comparisons to the Stones, Beatles and Floyd. But really Queen is right there with them if not surpassing them in some capacities. I would put Floyd on top for those bands but Queen would be a close second.
