Does anyone else find it alarming that Mike Babcock had to fly to Matthew's and Anderson's houses, separately, to mend the fences with them?
That's insane. A Coach flying to a player's house to explain himself to them. What. |

One of the dumbest things you’ve ever written on here
Ruhwedel is a passenger on the Pens
Carter was one of LAs most important players
Come on dude
That was brutal - jdfitz77
porter and nolan won a cup

The Sabres let Chad Rubwedel go, and he went on to win a cup.
Awful mistake by the Sabres - sbroads24

Of course, and so could O’Reilly.
Not in Buffalo anytime in the next two years, and he will be a depreciating asset when we actually contend.
I’m not saying O’Reilly sucks, for the millionth time - sbroads24
Philly fans I know don’t think they came out on top from moving Carter and Richards. Couts was a bust up til last year, Scoracek isn’t living up to his nickname or his mammoth contract and Simmer looks cooked. Carter and Richards got 2 cups. What exactly do the Flyers have to show for? I can’t go for that, no no, no can do. |

Mike Richards had 11 goals in the regular season, and 3 in 26 playoff games the last time the Kings won the Cup.
He played a minimal role. The guy Philly actually traded to LA
Who got Brayden Schenn and Simmonds back.
I mean what are we actually talking about? - sbroads24
Carter/Richards out
Simmonds/Schenn/Voracek/Couturier in.
That's pretty impressive. |

To be fair, they were traded 3 years after that run. I don't know if they were a problem or not. I just know that they were asked to do less in LA, and that Voracek was very good for philly. - Sabresfan-365
I wouldn’t say “very” good
Definitely “good” though
I think you’re overrating Voracek
Before this season,
he’s been a low 20s goal scorer & once got more than 62pts in a season

If OReilly is moved, I think he will surprise us with his return.

OReilly, 2019 3rd and 2 2019 4ths, along with Lehner for Faulk, Rask and 2019 1st.
I would do that in a heartbeat. |

Carter's line in LA was like Vanek Roy and Afingenov 12 years ago. Carter flourished when his team had two other lines opponents had to focus on because they were even more dangerous. |

Trades. Plural.
Philly didn’t trade Carter to LA, my god you can be dense. - sbroads24
Up until this season... 8 YEARS LATER...
Carter >>> Voracek & Couturier
Philly lost the trade
They should’ve kept Carter
I’m dense?
Please tell us more about how good Ruhwedel has been for Pittsburgh |

three of those seasons he was a point per game guy though. I think his assists totals last four years average out to 50. |

This is retarded.
Philly traded a known commodity to Columbus for a young player in Voracek and pick that ended up Coots.
Philly had 0 to do with Carter in LA.
Holy Jesus.
Philly hosed Columbus - sbroads24
And yet,
The known commodity went on to do great things
While the guys they got in the trade “haven’t moved the needle” for Philly until Couturier this season
(Again, 8 years later) |

Is this seriously what you're looking forward to with O'Reilly?
This is the best case scenario? |

Even if it did, Carter's role changed dramatically moving to LA. Whatever link people want to draw between ROR and him doesn't work because he became more "valuable" in a lesser role, like most complimentary guys do. - Sabresfan-365
Sbroads made the Carter point
I was just saying it made no sense |

Being top 5 in scoring and then top 20, isn’t moving the needle.

Philly would still have 0 cups having kept those two. They literally did not get worse after that trade. LA was already far better team than Philly before they acquired Richards and Carter (again, from Columbus).
Further, LA did what smart teams do. They acquired those players after they were in position to make a run, not before. |

U compared what Ruhwedel did on the Pens to what Carter did on LA
That’s a joke
Pretty sure your point was that we should trade ROR, bc that will make us better...
right?
So even if u don’t consider how good Carter was after he left... and just look at Carter’s stats when he was in Philly...
had Philly actually been BETTER off?
Not until this year
And it’s 8 years later
IT WAS A BAD TRADE |
