Depends what the asset is. If that asset is a good, established, young NHLer, I'm all for it. I'm done with mid-first lottery tickets that turn out to be Ennis and Girgensons for established players - jcragcrumple

Jonathon Drouin was dealt for an unknown in Sergachev.
Flyers traded Brayden Coburn to the Lightning and ended up with Travis Konecny
How did the Jeff Carter trade end up for Philly? - sbroads24
Badly. The Kings won two cups with two good players castaway from Philly. |

And if it makes my team better in the long run, I don’t care how many cups O’Reilly wins.
The Flyers ended up with Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier.
Carter and Richards proved they weren’t good enough to be the guys for that franchise, and Philly robbed other teams who thought they were |

They were good enough to be cornerstones of two cups for the Kings, and Philly has zero hardware to show for it.
I've seen which way the winds are blowing on ROR for the better part of two years, and I get it. But there is so much dead money - over 20 mil - tied up in Bogo, Moulson, Pommer and Okposo. No team can survive having 20/72 million tied up in that.
Instead of addressing that problem, and the recent lack of useful cheap talent coming through the development pipeline, people are ready to throw the blame on ROR's shoulders.
It's wrong, and it will always be wrong |

Except they weren’t cornerstones.
Kopitar, Doughty and Quick were the corner stones. And I’m a big Carter fan. He won when he moved to a complimentary role.
Not to mention Philly didn’t trade him to LA. Columbus did.
And again, you’re assuming people are calling O’Reilly “the problem”.
We aren’t, we’re calling an O’Reilly trade a potential solution |

not really, as a prospect, he was the as close as one can be considered a sure thing to be an NHLer and not some work in progress guy
You can say he was unknown in what he would do in his first year in teh league, but there was no denying that kids talent.
Avs were so hard for him as a trade for Duchee, but ill take Sammy Girard, Shane Bowers, potentially a 2019 lottery pick and still more |

if they believe baptiste, nylander, bailey are ready for top 9 duty

trading mccab and ror for a really good rd to play with dahlin may be in the cards

I don't think Baptiste and Bailey will be 2 way next year. If they get waived, I think they have to clear and im sure someone will take them for free.
...Everyone else can stay in Rochester unless they kill it in training camp. |

unknown gives the impression that he was some huge risk, im saying he was more a safe bet then a big risk as an "unknown"
And I was on record saying that Montreal would regret this trade as Sergachev is going to be solid |

Two way deals are irrelevant. Baptiste and Bailey are no longer waiver exempt, the others are. I stand by my point, you can't go into camp projecting more than one of them in your top 9. |

We're gonna run ROR out of town, just like we do with all our good players, and we'll try to convince ourselves that the modest return we get will be better as the sum of the parts. Everyone will mf him on the way out of town and we'll be worse off. - jcragcrumple
We're going to argue about ror. Not run him out of town.
Jbotts isn't going to give him away.
He has nhl value. Some people on here just don't get it. |

OK....unless we do.
And then, we are.
And frankly, why would they instantly land in the top 9?
