Fair enough.
I mean there’s posters on here who have gone through much worse(Vantel recently, Booner’s entire life) so I’d be careful about telling people what they can and can’t seriously.
Better to just stick to hockey and light hearted jokes. - Nucker101
I would never try to convince someone on here that they can't think or say what they want.
It was more just a passing comment about how the topic is viewed. |

That guy's a head scratcher. Looked lost on the canucks and now solid on a first year expansion team.
Are the canucks so bad that they make good players worse? - bloatedmosquito
Sbisa improved each season in Van. He left playing pretty solid on a poop team to be honest.

he's just a headcase, Ducks fans said he had a good season with them in 11/12 where he looked like a 2nd pairing dman and the 2 years after with them he sucked ass and was eventually moved in the Kesler trade.
People can blame his teammates, coaches, etc all they want but he's clearly just wildly inconsistent. He's decent on the bottom pairing when he's playing good and is confident, but he looks like an AHL'er when he's lacking confidence.
I agree that having a team identity definitely helps though. - Nucker101
We use to argue whether Sbisa still had upside left when he was acquired.

Tryamkin:
“I watch the NHL games, first of all, the games of Vancouver,” Tryamkin said. “The time difference is 12 hours, so I wake up before practice to turn on the games, it is interesting to observe how the team is developing. I keep track.”
He’s watching, so they’d better be on their best behaviour.
“I’m in touch with Nikolay Goldobin, he calls me, we keep in touch. He proved he can play well, I’m happy for him. Somehow he’s still being smothered, still influenced by the Russian factor, this cannot be avoided."
“The Sedin brothers are gone, they made a huge contribution to the history of the club, amazing people who played for 18 years for one club. Now it’s a great chance for the young guys to show themselves.” - NorthNuck
Tryamkin is playing it smart with who he talks to. This is a lot warmer than the rejections posted by Carol. I thought then that someone like Carol may get a different response from him than the two unknowns(to me) in those tweets. Or possibly the timing. It pays to have ample time to respond so you don't get taken out of context with a couple of brief one sentence answers while you are playing or practicing. He's big, not a big idiot.

I don't recall too many people around here having much sympathy for Kassian? Get that (frank)in idiot outta here was the common theme. - LeftCoaster
Kassian was already a mess before he arrived in Vancouver. Nickname by the time he left Rochester was Cocaine Kassian. That name carried over to Vancouver and I heard this from a Canuck employee at the time. He went stage 1 here and still continued to stay out all night drunk and snorting coke, stomping around with people he only just met etc.... he was the player who would snort coke in front of people in the bathroom instead of doing what most hockey players do... sneak away where no phone will ever catch them(toilet stall). As soon as he was traded to the Habs... he got in an accident in the wee hours doing exactly the same poop. They showed even less sympathy and tossed him to the curb. Why,,, because like in Van... you could see it escalating. Lack of sympathy... I'm still sympathetic... but this is a business and sympathy does not help people with Kassian's problems at all. Paying him millions doesnt help a binge partier's problem either. I know this from when I had $300k in my bank all of a sudden. The cycle went on over 10 years... one step forward 5 steps back all the way.

Btw Lefty is right about porn lol, it’s a bigger issue than video game addiction. It’s been linked to erectial disfunction, anxiety and depression. - Nucker101

Anybody hear this story of blue chip prospect who is addicted to video games
“I really doubt he’s going to make it to the NHL and it’s because of a video game addiction. To the point where his junior general manager told me that they’ve had him go to counseling over it because he’ll play until all hours of the night and into the morning and then he’ll have no energy the next day. He’ll be a write-off."
“I swore that I wouldn’t say the player’s name. But it’s unfortunate. He’s a recent first-round draft pick for a very, very prominent NHL team – will probably never play in the NHL because of a video game addiction.”

His life is not at risk(at least that I know of) and he can get help. The fact his former/current GM knows about it means that his friends/family likely do as well.
There’s plenty of teenagers who play video games 5+ hours daily, hell, some of them are actually making a living out of it through gaming tournaments and YouTube videos. They’re likely addicted, but yet that’s fine?
And how did it get to this point? If he’s already seriously addicted as a young adult then he was clearly not given discipline as a child. - Nucker101

that (frank)er should write a memoir, he'd be rich! - LeftCoaster
I know people in the biz. They are broke.
I am writing. I wouldn't dare publish while my father is still alive though. There would be a lot of shame there to carry through his remaining years. His life was ruined by my other parent. He started off building us a house in his 20's in Nova Scotia close to loving family and everything. It only took my mother a couple of years to (frank) that all up and he didnt really have a chance after that. By the time I was a teenager, I had twice as much will as him and to be honest, I dragged my parents out here to get them away from their friends,,,, not the other way around. I was going with or without them(again). Just needed all 3 of use out of jail(juvie for me) at the same time in 87/88. |

100%. But it's interesting that Nuckers take is about self awareness and controlling your own destiny, not one being influenced by outside forces. Nietzsche's theories about own responsibility is exactly what Nucker's perspective is about.
Every human has weaknesses and will fall down, but it's the getting up that matters. The people who refuse to get up, well, (frank) them. |
