Peter Tessier: Attention to detail(s) key to Jets winning in Vegas The Jets don't have to do much to be better than game two but playing attention to details is the most important thing, for players and coach.

off topic but just posted this on the last board,

like many on here I look at the Little extension as the worst contract we have moving forward. NOT ANYMORE, here me out. I was thinking about how much 2nd/3rd line centers are getting paid and going for around the league, so I took at look at just a few in our division.

first we signed Little ( age 30 ) to a long term deal for 5.3 per. Little averages around 45 points give or take.

lets get this out of the way, Stastny is 32, averages about the same 45 points and I guarantee will sign for the same or more as Little.

Bonino, 30, 4.1mil per, averages 35 points
Turris, 28, 6mil per, averages 55 points
Anisimov, 29, 4.55mil per, averages 40 points
M.Koivu, 35, 5.5mil per, averages 50 points
Berglund, 29, 3.5mil per, averages 30 points
Hanzel, 31, 4.7mil per, averages 35 points

We can all see how having center depth is key in the playoffs!! Raslovic should absolutely be a key piece moving forward at center but Little is as well. I hope we all know ( not sure about Rexy ) but not re-signing Little and expecting Petan, Appleton, Dano, or whoever else on the Moose to fill that role would not have the same results.

and PLEASE remember Stastny waived to come here, for this playoff run only!! With Little signed or not he probably would not have chosen to end his career here, plus he puts up the same totals as Little and is 2 years older than Little.

Centers in the NHL are like top 4 D, you have to over pay for them.

A lot of chatter about ehlers on the hot seat, Little and a perreault should be talked about as well. We can not win on possesion numbers alone! At some point you need to score. Perreault has one goal in garbadge time since his return. He brings a lot to our team but at some point that line will need to contribute on the score board.

I agree with those saying Raslovic needs to be inserted again.

I hope Roslovic goes in for someone, I say he should replace Armia. Might be a bit harsh on Armia but we need to shake things up and can use his speed and skill set.

Responding to Ross77 from early post:

it's also worth something that this season was Little's worst in 5 years at PPG. I think it was an off-season for him and he will post better offensive numbers again next year.

Don't know why people are so keen on getting Armia out of the lineup. The man is able to pin opponents in their own zones and is one of our best penalty killers. I like Roslovic, but think it would make more sense to substitute Tanev for him, if we do anything.

I have posted this yesterday, but I think Ehlers playing with Laine is whats killing him. He's always looking to set Laine up. If he were the focal point of a line I think he would perform better.

The chemistry hasn't been there between these two - I think both perform better with other players. That said it isn't the right time for major tinkering with the lineup.

Both Laine and Ehlers are shoot first players who play best when they are focused on the net. Ehlers has some earmarks of a playmaker but so far in his career his best performances are when he is driving the net, circling and shooting rather than looking for his buddy to take that shot. I think one of the reasons Little was underwhelming this season is that he is also a shoot first player and not as natural a playmaker. Stasny on the other hand is a playmaker, as is Wheeler. Mason Appleton might be a good fit next year, although is another winger.

I agree with both your points, I’d bring in Ras and take out Tanev and I’d also separate Laine and ehlers

I'm not feeling any need to panic after last games loss. I'd be still in favor of sticking with the current lineup. Maybe tweak Ehlers onto a different line to break him away from Laine. Laine played pretty well with Perreault so maybe give that a try.

Roslovic in, Ehlers out. Ehlers was not a healthy scratch. Go Roslo!

I never thought I'd say this but I hope Enstrom is injured because he has been nothing but a liability for most of the playoffs. His stats also back it up. Trouba has looked pretty bad these last two games as well but we know he is at least is capable of playing much better.

Close missed chances and goal posts are killing us.

Hate to say it, but Agreed about Toby.
Disagree about the chances and posts. Vegas' relentless forecheck and perfect positional play are what's killing us....

I thought we had four lines? Seems only one has showed up this series!

Helle, I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, never poke check, you have never successfully pulled it off, also play the puck less

Laine, that was horrible! Move your feet

Connor, nice third but the first two periods were your worst of the playoffs

Little and perreault, anytime you fellas want to contribute to the scoreboard is fine by me, we are ready and waiting for you.

Tanev, you had a chance on 2nd line. It didn’t work out.

Copp armia Lowry, we also need a goal from your line!!!!!

Enstrom hasn’t been great but Chairot has been worse

Enstrom generates zero offence. Bring back Morrow.

Winnipeg finally gave some push back and played a good third period but with Vegas skating legs, gift wrapped mistakes, it was a bit too late.

I agree with liverpoolnhl, Vegas plays seemingly perfect positioning, relentlessly on every puck, seems to win nearly every puck battle, if there is a puck battle and confident their goalie can bail them out.

Jets don't hit, maybe they can't hit because they can't catch up, but Marchessault buzzes around everyone untouched. Speed game, no hitting, can't slow them down, there's your result.

I think Pete called it a bit of an emotional let down after Nashville but I think that series drained a lot of energy from the Jets. Plus Vegas had 7 days off vs Wpg 2 days off after a 7 game series and this lack of speed/energy was evident in each of the 3 games. The good news is that the third period was starting to look like the Jets game was coming back. They need to keep that up.

If Enstrom or Chairot comes out, I would put Kuli in if he is ready to go. Kuli is faster than Morrow and we need speed and someone that is willing to throw the body around.

Funny that our slowest line has been one of most effective (although no goals) - Lowry/Armia/Copp.

It's disappointing to lose a game after playing reasonably well. Stay the course, don't panic. Go out and win game 4 for the split in Vegas, regain home ice advantage and carry on from there. This is playoff drama and we will rise to the level we need to to win.
I keep imagining a capacity MTS centre when Jets are winning about 4-1 with 3 minutes to go in game 7. The crowd channels their inner 'Guess Who' and starts singing 'no time left for you' (you got got got got no time). repeat for the finals.

I said earlier that the Jets are not hitting but they outhit Vegas 48 to 41. Chairot led with 6, then Lowry with 5, Wheeler with 4. Trouba 2, Buf 3, the rest are 3's, 2's and 1's. So, I am correcting myself. But, nothing thunderous like Buf delivered in previous series.

D needs to play smarter, pick their moments better, too many 2 on 1’s. Toby needs to go away fast. Boys need to play a full 60 with intensity & urgency. This is a Must Win! Wheels up in 15mins - on my way to Vegas!

Huge game, I am expecting excellent performances from both teams. Fleury can't get any better than he was in game 3, Jets can be better.

Vegas has done a good job of taking advantage when our d pinches in or plays assertively up ice, I think this will be a little more cautious today with more support coming back from forwards. The forecheck is on big time tonight.

Looking for some depth scoring in this one, we should see something from Little/Perreault, Lowry and from Meyers.

Myers can be quite the formidable offensive force such as he was in the third after been given the green light to generate some offence. How often do you see a d-man get a breakaway. I'd love to see him play forward for a couple of shifts if not to just watch how efficient a 6ft 8 guy could be with his massive reach on the forecheck.
