Well spoken, might I add:

His value is mid-late first rounder

Face offs don't matter

International hockey tournaments are full of nhl losers

He plays so much anyone would score 61 points with his ice time

He's an old 27 year old. Starting to depreciate

He is not a leader, and after practice practices are a sign of being content and being a quitter

- Boss34

Well actually for the amount of ice time he played he was the lowest scoring forward with > 1500 minutes played, but again, keep swinging and missing because he wins face offs.

Hes saying ROR = Tavares.

I've been down this road before with him.

No, I'm saying an infatuation with a shiny new toy is a dangerous game

No, no.
Dont back down now.

You think there is zero upgrade from ROR to Taveres.

When ROR wears an A in the Olympics then you have a leg to stand on

When he wears it in the World Championship where Tim Kennedy (when he was a Sabre) went to play in then you're reaching

Also his after practice practices stopped.

He failed as a leader in Buffalo, I couldn't care less if he wears an A for team Canada at the World Championships.

Also you know how he scored that GWG? McDavid did all the work, ROR just stood there. So stop with that.

Fact is he is a 2nd line center that is overpaid by 2 million per year. Move him while you can.

- Stripes77

Tim Kennedy wore an ' A' while playing internationally?
When ror scores, hes just standing around getting lucky.

Again, to sign in buffalo, players get paid more.

How is a fact that he is overpaid by 2 million.
Sounds like an opinion to me

I just find it weird that we get to pick what point total we want despite it not being the current season.

What the balls

Not at all. I think there's a much higher risk in swapping the two. My personal belief is that the wheels will fall off Tavares in year 5, and we'll be stuck with a very expensive center on the wrong side of 30.

Wait til next year and offer Kucherov the moon

Just going to ignore the 84 point year last year.
That's irrelevant.
not to mention Tavares has >200 more points than ROR is the same number of games.

Add - I feel like I have to constantly tear ROR down, which I am not trying to do at all.

Hes not particularly slow
Hes a consistent goal scorer, year in year out
Hes a consistent point producer
Plays defense

He is also the alternate captain on team canada?
That I'm sure isnt particularly important?

I think the Sabres miss the intangibles of they move him.
Yes, faceoffs being part of it

- Boss34

I never said he was. In fact I've gone out of my way to say I like him as a player, and that he's probably earning his paycheck. As far as your points, when the team wants to play a up tempo game, being not particularly slow doesn't cut it. He is a point producer just fine, but if we can get something more of a goal scorer, I'd take it. And like someone else said, he wears an A for Canada, a team made up of players that aren't in the playoffs. But that's besides the point really. If he's such a great leader, how come he didn't get the C in Buffalo? Is it because he possibly isn't? His only competition in this regard is a 20 year old kid who had a little bit of an attitude perception about him. I think that speaks louder than wearing an A for glorified scrimmages. Steve Ott was also great at faceoffs. I'm not a move him for spare parts, but if the right package comes along that makes sense for this team, I don't see how you don't take it.

It's not irrelevant, I just don't think he should make more than Eichel, and I think there are better ways to allocate cash, especially considering most of us are very high on Mittelstadt. Wingers and goalies are far more interesting to me right now than centers

Well no, admitting you quit several times during the season is a sign of that.
- ImThatGuy

He didn't admit to quitting. You are twisting his words to fit your narrative

He must have zero trade value. ( being a quitter)
Maybe we send him to Arizona with a pick for a $ dump.

Also, I cant beleive I missed this.
So he'll put up ROR type numbers for years 6-7?

Yeah, years 5,6,7 probably. While making $11 per. And everyone's favorite scapegoat will be finishing year 5 of his deal while putting up similar points at $7.5

Gerbe math:

Above average 3rd liner is pretty much an average 2nd liner?
What's armia's trade value in terms of a pick?

- Boss34

No you have to add the extra 10% which would be a middle ground 1st liner

Holy crap if you think O'Reilly is worth $7.5 million then you've lost your mind. He made the 18th most money last year in the league. His cap hit is higher than Marchand's, than Pastranak, than Bergeron, than Kessel, than Doughty, same as Tarasenko's. Yes he is overpaid.

The only reason he is making this much is because of what Calgary did coming out of the lockout.

Did you watch the goal? He was literally standing in front of the net doing what ever single kid is taught from age 4, keep you stick on the ice.

No Tim Kennedy didn't wear an "A" but the fact that he was "chosen" to play in an international tournament shows how little this tournament matters to people.

I agree with most of your post.

Wasn't there a captain here for ror's first 2 years here?
Brian gianta?

How can the Sabres give anyone else the c other then eichel? Seriously, wouldn't that make eichel look terrible.

Ror works hard. Anyone that goes to the games would agree. Hes a good player, surprised at the hate.

The point in Tavares for years 1-4 puts the Sabres in a better position to win than ROR does in the next 4 years.

I am against signing him (Tavares) unless they move Bogo and ROR

But Tavares >>>> ROR

I agree with your last part, but I think ROR years 1-5 on his current is a better value than JT years 1-7 at 11-11.5

If he's the leader that some make him out to be, I would say no. But I'm not in the room. Having no C indicates that they don't think he's captain material. As far as the points thing goes, he does get a lot of minutes, I would be curious to find out where he stacks up against his peers playing the same amount. I see someone said not great when you look at it from that perspective. I wouldn't hate losing him, and I wouldn't hate keeping him.

I'm not arguing with you, I respect your opinions.

I think hes overpaid by 1-1.5 a year. Buffatax in my opinion.

Why in the world would anyone give up being a ufa a year early unless a last place team was paying you more.

I think he's a good player and if we get good value in a position of need, then trade him.

He is not a quitter in my opinion. That's overblown

Value wise sure

But right now you're not getting good value for ROR either

I would move ROR for a top line LWer with speed

I would use the cap savings to find a good goaltender and a good true defensive 3rd line center.

I enjoy his game. He tries hard.

If something of equal value comes along, and it helps the Sabres. Then trade him

JT will not be going to the armpit of America....and this comes from someone from Detroit originally (now in Toronto).

Also, who wants to play somewhere where the young star thinks he’s a mega star and tries to run the team. He may become a real good player (already a good one) but man does he have a crappy attitude.

JT will stay on Long Island.

I really don't dislike his game, there are times where I am a fan of his game and times where I think he bailed on stuff

I don't hate his game, I hate his contract.

I hate the divide (allegedly) in the locker room

Or what was going wrong with the Sabres is if you got past Risto and Scandella on D you had not much else and that was what hurt the team along with the weakness at wing when Reinhart ended up being your top winger and not much else. You have to look at what they didn't have more than nitpicking the weaknesses of those whom you have developed an odd disdain for.
- GilPerreault11

except the numbers show that they got blown past the most of any pairing, which makes sense. They saw the most ice time, ice time they were ill equipped to see because they are not top pairing guys
