do they have a chart covering the entire season? - Michael Pachla
I can cover his whole career: a physical, offensive defenseman whose defensive stats have probably been hurt by the parade of scrubs on this team over the past 4 years |

I believe it's a random sampling but I don't know for sure. - Sabresfan-365
I don't think 14 games is a sufficient sample size...that's less than 20% or risto's games, about 21% for Klefbom |

I thought the big thing with risto, outside of pham's dislike for his game, is that he's only known losing with the media using that as a jumping off point for trading him |

Never bought that argument myself. He's a fierce competitor. He was probably played too much as #1, but he just hit the lotto with the rest of us |

I find it most interesting that Boston, home of The Rat, is complaining about the officiating in the NHL and suggesting a review be conducted. Man, talk about opening Pandora’s box...holy crap.

it's more about what it shows versus the totals. He's not much of a puck mover, most people already know this. |

I saw that, and yes he had his struggles...I would like to add that the forwards should take plenty of the blame for difficulties by the defensemen moving the puck up ice |

So where do you sit on this whole thing that both the coach and the GM brought up multiple multiple times?
They never named names, which drives me crazy ... but they put it out there.
The PHam names one of the guys and everyone blows it off in disbelief.
If it ain’t him, ho is it ( them) then in your estimation? |

His comments about those things are cryptic.
He brought that system question up with Howard Simon maybe two weeks ago when he was reiterating the story about how Reinhart stopped playing they way they wanted him to, and he finally decided to play his game and then he started playing well. But he also said that Reinhart can fit his game into Housley's system. He said it kind of gleefully.
I don't know what any of it means. Some can apparently play their own game within the system, and some cannot?

They are both to blame.
Same guy tracked zone entries, over a 15 or so game sample size, ROR was beat by Jordan Nolan.
Jordan....Nolan. I don't care how small the sample size is, that should never, ever happen. |

Why do so many people consider Risto an offensive defenseman? I mean, sure, he plays on the PP, but he rarely jumps up in the play or any of the other things you see from true offensive d. The label doesn't seem right to me. |

I totally agree.
That's why they will not trade risto :
Unless hes a lockerroom problem or
Uncoachable
Management isnt giving up on him |

There's a chance he's just back tracking and covering his ass. He once said Ristolainen was the best defensemen that Sabres ever had period. |

True, but are you suggesting that those numbers would actually be markedly better over a full season? we both know he struggles in those areas. - Sabresfan-365
True, but I have no idea what games those were.
But how much of that is him and how much is it the guys around him? |

because you can't really call him a defensive guy. His shot attempt numbers and expected goals for fall in line with most offensive defensemen. |

I've said all along that housley should take a big part of the blame for the early season struggles...botterill should shoulder his fair share for hiring a rookie coach who showed he was ill-equipped to make necessary adjustments when his system blew up in his face after game-3 |
