So again, Culture is a buzzword that has zero effect on winning and losing.

C'mon man, you are telling me not one coach was able to get his team to "Buy In" in the last 18 years. - ImThatGuy
There you go again.
There are several elements in making a good team...it’s like a Venn Diagram dude.
But you want to make it about one thing.
It ain’t.
And yes, apparently. For what Beaner and McDermott did was fat more impacted by who they literally gave away than who they acquired....rather than oiling the bad ball bearings...they replaced the bad parts. |

He's right.
Better talent = more wins = Magically having better culture.
Amazing how that works. - ImThatGuy
Yes, it is ONE part of a complicated formula.
Just look at all those consecutive, back-to-back-to back championship banners the Yankees have over the past 30 years..Talent is ONE part of the equation.
Marry it with a culture of leadership and accountability ...boom, you have something. |

Was it Joey Votto who said earlier this year that culture was bogus, and it was all about talent? It was a good MLB'er but I can't remember if it's him or not.
Either way, MLB is a pretty high level - sbroads24
Refer to one of my earlier posts suggestion that culture is more important for more team oriented sports.
Sean McDermott disagrees with some chump MLB player playing in an individualistic sport (that I played through college) |

Of course coaches disagree.
And for the record, I do think there is something stale in the Sabres locker room, and I do think leadership is important.
I think the term culture and how it's applied is ludicrous. No one can explain it either.
No losing team has good culture, no winning team has bad culture. It's made up |

What am I missing exactly?
I'm not accusing you of saying culture is the reason teams win, i'm saying if it was tangible, like speed and other attributes, like you said it was, then we would hear about bad culture on good teams....we don't. Because it never exists apparently |

Indianapolis Colts are an awful team, they land Peyton Manning, instantly become one of the best teams in the NFL for decades. Peyton Manning gets hurt, they go 1-15 and get Andrew Luck, repeat process.
The Green Bay Packers, were on their way to another playoff birth this year, Aaron Rodgers gets hurt, the team falls apart.
the 49ers were a historically bad team, traded for a good QB and they went on to win a few games at the end of the season.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were on the verge of moving because they were so bad, They land two of the top 5 players in the world, and bam they are constant cup contenders.
Repeat for the blackhawks
Repeat for the kings
The 76ers who were the worst team in basketball for years, all of the sudden are good because they drafted high and got really good players.
The Cleveland Browns and buffalo Bills, a coaching and GM carousel. One thing in Common, lack of talent at the QB position. |

ROR wants to be a leader ... he doesn’t know how to lead men. It is quite evident.
Im not quite sure Eichel knows how to lead either.
Talent does not make one a leader. |

So again = Winning = good culture
losing = bad culture.
if your winning in the beginning of the season, good culture. if your star player gets hurt and you miss the playoffs, the culture must have shifted, correct?
Not like anything like that has ever happened in sports. |

With Carolina being in the market for a Goalie, think there would be any interest in a Lehner package? |
