I love how Eric Cairns is now some talent scout. Hahaha
I realllyyyyyy hope this story is true - kindlyrick
Eric Cairns was a one-dimensional player, and the one dimension he was good at is no longer very important in the NHL. So it makes perfect sense in Islanders Land that he would have responsibility for scouting and/or developing young talent.
I'm not exactly sure how it will all work, but we've all believed Lamoriello will eventually run the NYI hockey operations department...and it's believed he represented the Islanders when he spoke to Tavares.

I love the guy, but he's the exact example of nepotism with this team. Is he reallyyyyyyyyy the best talent scout that for this team? Enough with the favors already.......lets get a winner on the ice.
It's good news but the day I will really celebrate will be when I here Snow has been terminated. - JimmyP
I know a lot of people are worried Snow will be involved here. BUT, the bottom line here is a guy like Snow has SOME value to a team. He NEVER should have been in charge of hockey operations. Truth be told, he shoulda been a scout and worked his way up. Having Lou Lam in charge is a game changer on the island. Im not one bit worried about Snow being here.........its literally just a title on paper so as not to envoke his buyout clause. He's gonna have about as much say as you or I

If he's still there he will have some say. There is no point paying someone to do nothing. We'll see how things shake out. I'm curious what the structure will be.
In any event Lou coming is good news. If nothing else it give the Isles some credibility.

I'm not worried either. Lou does not play the fool for anyone. Lou left Jersey and now the Leafs because he does not want to stay in the background and do nothing.

I think you're missing the point.......Snow has a contract that if bought out has major penalties. Im sure it was Wangs way of saying thank you and guarenteeing Snow gets his lets say 1 million a year. Im sure the penalties of buying him out are so aggregious its worth it to pay him to do nothing. Im not worried about Snows say, when Lamoriello is in charge.
