We aren’t dumping a bad contract without adding a lot of sweetener. I ride it out for this season. Hope Sek makes a bounce back and Klef returns to full health. Find a winger for Drai. And a Right Hand Top pair two way dman if one becomes available.
Problem is Chia is a moron and will likely do something drastic to try to save his job. - Iggysbff
That Dman is gonna be pricey. It'll be scary if Puljujarvi steps up big time. |

Would you guys get behind a RNH for Faulk type of deal. Im sure both teams could even make a bigger trade perhaps with Skinner even. - poisondhearts37
Not ever. Faulk is GF% black hole relative to the rest of his team. He has consistently been negative influence at 5-on-5, isn't particularly exceptional on the PP and is an impressively bad defender of high danger areas. |

It would be pricey. But worth it for the right guy.
Pul has a ways to go still. |

What do you guys think is the right guy though? That would even potentially be available? |

Don’t know at the moment. But past deals that could have landed the right guys are no longer available. But at least it points to some deals that could have been done with a competent gm. Poile asked for Hall for Jones but was countered with Nuge. Boner and I both advocated for Trouba when he was on the outs with Winnipeg. Those are the kind of guys we should have ponied up for. We also should have had Hamilton if Chia had not burnt that bridge. Not Larsson or Reinhart. |

Nurse or Klefbom for Trouba still makes some sense- depending upon new contracts signed by Nurse and Trouba. |

Seems hard to imagine that Nashville would have wanted Hall over Nuge though. When they didnt have crap for centers. |

When you’re getting a game changer like Hall you do it and fill the C spots other ways. |

Personally. As much of a beast as he is. I think the Jets should do everything to keep Trouba long term and trade big buf before he declines big time. Laine, Wheeler, Connor, Morrissey there starting goalie and even Trouba this year. They gotta find alot of money very soon. Myers in 2 years. But highly doubt he gets more money then the already got paid last time. |

Maybe. Still can’t believe how many people argued Larsson was better than Trouba... |

I still can't believe any Oilers fan disagreed with trading Nurse for Trouba the last two years. |

Wasn't most of that based on the rumors of him not wanting to be in Canada? |

No it was him wanting top 4 time on his strong side.
He was forced to play the left side. |

Unconfirmed external elements be damned, the conversations were under the assumption he would sign. There was a lack of certainty surrounding his reported trade request: one side was that he wanted to play on the right side and the other said he wanted to play in or near Detroit iirc. |

Don't see what's absurd about that. While I won't make any absolute claim on the matter, there's no argument that the skillset and early-career results have similarities. Vlasic didn't become the suffocating shutdown guy he is now until around age 27 and then began adding offense again. |

That may be true, but most were unwilling to give up what the Jets would've wanted (Nurse or Klefbom). No other realistic package would've gotten the deal done. I spent a good deal of time debating the issue with a number of regulars but didn't seem to get anywhere. |

I recall those conversations. Many opted out on Trouba for fear that he wouldn’t resign with the Oil. And I truthfully doubt that he would have. The thought of losing Nurse or Klefbom for a possible short term rental in Trouba, was greeted with justifiable unease. |

See, but I recall the context being under the assumption that he would resign. If you have every discussion under the pretense of fear they might not resign, you've pretty much eliminated 75% of your potential acquisition options. |

True, but Trouba’s case was unique in that numerous members of the media strongly hinted that he did not want to play for a Canadian market. Whether or not these rumours were true, they certainly had an effect on fan perspective concerning such a trade. Especially fans of a small Canadian market such as ours. |
