Better % in the top of the draft with forwards.

That is why if your team is lousy , you tank and not win meaningless games . We should be drafting top 3 every year not 5 67

- VANTEL

I'd have to see some verification on that lol but I don't see #7 as a bad thing, higher is better but we've had #6, #5, #5 and now #7 so those should be some great building blocks. #1 or #2 would be better though I agree!

Funny pick #23 has been his best so far??? Sometimes you've gotta be lucky to be good!

Capitals have been so good for so long because McPhee continually hit on late first round picks to add to Ovechkin and Backstrom.

We have one of the worst records since Benning arrived and have not cracked a top 5 pick. Buffalo has had a first ,2 seconds , and 2 eights

Merkley should be a winger. Probably wouldn’t be as good offensively, but at least he wouldn’t kill his team defensively. I’d hate being that guy’s teammate.
- Nucker101

Just highlights of Merkley's game, he isn't a pursuer, he's a pursued. Skill isn't a teachable trait. Defence is. It will probably take time and he may never be amazing defensively. Karlsson isn't a very good defender. I'd still take him, it's just where in the draft you would take him.

I lean towards him as well.

He wasnt even in the 2nd tier league in the SHL

- classic321

Brynas own Boqvist rights. They have a men's league team. They also have a junior team. That is still Brynas owned players. What Brynas can't have is a team that plays in the SHL and in the Allsvenskan (second division).

For Boqvist to play in the Allsvenskan, Brynas had to "loan" him to a team playing in the allsvenskan. (which they did and he played 7 games).

It's unfortunate for players like Boqvist because of the way the league's work.

They would have a pretty good team if they weren't always trading to win.

I remember when Donna was telling me the Golden Knights were gonna be worse than the Canucks, now I didn't envision a Cup final but I told him he was out to lunch....good times!
- LeftCoaster

I too had them worse than us but its easy to hold history against ppl who had the balls to make a prediction lol

I had it TBL & the Preds

I've never been a fan of small players unless they had tremendous speed, I remember yelling NOOOOOOOOOOOO when they picked Schroeder and Shinkaruk

Just gotta stick with the program and keep drafting and developing. Wahlstrom or Dobson for me.

We have one in Horvat, who's turned into a good NHL center. Pettersson hopefully. Need to keep building through the middle and stop picking wingers. Top six I'm talking.
- LeftCoaster

Totally agree wingers are the least of our needs unless game changers. In goal & up the middle is PRIORITY.

Dobson and Walhstrom have been two players i've been eyeing up since December.

I'm still really high on Rasmus Kupari. K'Andre Miller, i've seen ranked anywhere from 20-40.

Ty Emberson for the past couple of months. Been seeing more and more of him.

Walks the line well. In the u18 tournament, saw him lay the body quite a bit.
Speed and size. Ranked 42 in NA central scouting rankings. I doubt he makes it into the 3rd round but I think whoever gets him, gets a real good D.

The Pens can keep those players unless Van is going to trade Sutter, Gagner, Hutton, Pouliot, MDZ.

- manvanfan

For myself i’ve been tracking Boqvist & Wahly. Boqvist has not proven to me we should pick him. Kotkaniemi has caught my attention. Still though i want Wahly.

We've never finished last, that helps a lot!! Buffalo has, third try they finally won the lottery. They finished last in 2014 but Florida won the lottery, then in 2015 when Edmonton won McDavid, they also finished last, then again this year.

Dobson is playing today at 4 on Sportsnet. I suggest you watch him #53 . Like I said yesterday nothing wrong with him but he is years away from NHL ready. You can get a player close to that in the second round with Miller or McIssac
- VANTEL

Well if Miller or McIssac fall to the 2nd thats great but i wouldn’t bet on it. Someone good will fall to us IMO.

So neither was Karlsson in his draft +1 season. Unfortunate how Karlsson turned out.

We should have finished last . We have one of the least amount of wins since Benning arrived. We win three meaningless games in California and fall out of last place and the last place Leafs win the lotto

I don't know which one of the four won't live up to expectations that is why I say draft a forward
- VANTEL

With D needing more time to develop i agree F is safer & a better known quantity. So we go BPA F & D in later rounds.
