Bothford said Juolevi isn’t the addicted gamer I guess that means it him for sure

German Rubtsov?

I've seen some Flyers fans say they think it's him

Ya he would make sense. Hopefully he can turn it all around before it’s too late

If Canucks draft Dobson or Bouchard I wonder how long it takes to crack the line up. Stecher Biega and Pouliot Gudbrandson are your RHD so the competition is not that stiff. I say they could be in the lineup as soon as two years.
- VANTEL

I've seen a lot of reports on both, many think Bouchard might be a guy that steps right in. Dobson needs a year or two.

Bouchard could make the team this season. Dobson needs one more year in the minors.

Not likely that Boqvist Tckachuk or Walstrom will fall to us so Dobson or Hughes it probably will be.

Boucher isn't AHL ready, let alone nhl ready. Plus he's a only an average skater, 2years before he makes it.

I think he is close. If he can get a bit quicker and stronger in the summer he could surprise. he is also an OCT birthday with 3 full seasons of junior. Dobson has only had two seasons in the Q.

i thikn hughes will be gone before canucks pick. his size makes me worry a bit but there are a couple eastern teams that pick ahead that might see a krug/ellis who is closer to nhl-ready than some of the other options

Bouchard, I want to like him because of his production, but man, if I was watching him without knowing his draft ranking and stat line, I would not be interested in him at #7. He looks very meh to me whenever I watch him. Nothing stands out other than how much he shoots the puck on the PP and his decent transition passing. His play without the puck is really what I don’t like.

Maybe I’m just watching his bad games lol

Dobson needs to get stronger. I feel like he has more upside since he hasn’t filled out yet. But I like his skating better in all 3 zones. His passing and stick handling is solid like Bouchard. He always seems to make the right play, offensively and defensively. At the same time he’s not afraid to shoot the puck and start a rush either. Such a fluid player to watch.

Yeah, I’m not expecting Hughes to be around at 7

I'll trust the scouts and journalists, it's their job. Skating is the knock, many scouts still see him making it regardless as it's above average.

It's not likely, but very possible. top5 is locked. if hughes doesn't I guess boquist or wahlstrom slides to us? Yes please!

You can teach a kid to skate (look at Horvat). Can't teach offensive talent. I'd be happy with Bouchard, Dobson, Hughes. If Tkachuk is available, I almost hope they don't take him unless we get an additional first rounder.

I think D is our biggest weakness.

Tryamkin is not coming back. I just don't see it.

He may still have some Canucks stuff on social media, but there is a certain cache to show that you played in the NHL, I would not read to much into that. Also, I "like" a lot of comments of many people I used to work with and maintained friendships with , it does not mean that I am necessarily open to returning back to work at those former places.

who cares. He was overrated anyways. Hopefully in a few years we have better D prospects so people stop talking about him

Horvat is more of an exception to the rule. He improved immensely, most guys only improve a bit. They don’t go from below average to above average.

And historically, if you look at prospects who put up monster junior numbers and still busted in the NHL, it’s usually skating and/or hockey sense that held them back.

this is true but I don't think Bouchard is below average. he is probably slightly above average. No reason he can't improve his quickness.

Edit. he is one player that I definitley want to see his combine results

Doesn't mean all prospects can't improve. If Bouchard's biggest knock against him is skating, to me that is something that is the easy to improve.

Here is a quote

Bill Torrey went back to Al Arbour and said, 'Here's our choice,'" Craig Button said. "'We can take this guy, he's a really good two-way player, more of a defensive player, really knows how to check. Or we can get this guy, he might be a prolific scorer at the NHL level, but his defense isn't good.' Al Arbour said to Bill Torrey, 'Let's take the scorer, I can teach him to check. I can't teach the checker how to score.'"

Agree to disagree. I think most prospect can improve to an extent but not all can improve significantly.

Also my questions about Bouchard go beyond just skating. I think his hockey sense is just average compared to guys like Hughes and Dobson.

But again, I’m just a wannabe GM here and have only watched him play a few games.

And we’re comparing Bouchard to guys like Dobson/Hughes/Boqvist

All of these guys can create offense, none of them are “checkers”

If you draft for pure offense than you want Ryan Merkley over all of them. Except he’s a dumb hockey player who doesn’t care about defense despite his top 3 worthy skill set

I like Bouchard but I’m leaning to Dobson as well. Him or wahlstrom
