Great win by the Bolts last night. Amazing fortitude displayed by all. They have a 4th line that contributes solidify every game, knocks in some important goals. The D is selling out to block shots...can’t be fun taking one from Ovi. One more to go, hope they can close out Monday...give them an additional day of rest.
Now just need the Jets to pull a miraculous comeback such that we have one of the most entertaining Cups |

Are you serious? They won 3 Cups, genius. - Dukey3030
Way late, but the hawks have won zero cups since signing those Kane and Toews to those contracts. Not saying it won’t work here because we have 1st overall and Mittelstadt (Cheap contacts for could be star players) too, that helps. |

a 2nd pair D-man(sheltered), a bust, and a 2nd? For one of the best players in the NHL? seems fair to me. - Gramps28
This "Nylander is a bust" crap, at barely 20 years old, is laughable. Hysterical, even.

Is it?
Do tell, cause his play on the ice is what is hysterical actually.
Another perimeter player.
While 20, at this point his brother was already having success in the NHL after a successful AHL stint.
The same cannot be said of Alex.
I do want him turn it around because the Sabres desperately need a scoring winger. But his production seems to be primarily A’s.
He needs to get it together this year, else he is a bust. |

You’re right he did for 47 games to start the season.
Good on him if he figured it out and will play close to the same going forward.
But the question is ... Will the real Samson Reinhart please stand up? |

His brother is his brother. So what?
He got thrust into the AHL at 18 years old because why? Answer that. That's no slouch of a league, and in some ways is a lot tougher league to play in. You've got guys playing for a call up, or guys just trying to hang on to whatever career they have.

Love watching this team play, fun as hell!
Point is one of my favorites, kid has a non- stop motor.
And Callahan adds so much dirty work, his line has great value. |

His production has increased incrementally each of the past 3 seasons.
He had a bad start to the season, no doubt, but the real Reinhart is for the most part what we've seen the past 2.5 years and not the player that struggled early in the season. |

Tampa may be on fire, but the Caps hit who knows how many posts last night and they've been the better team in 2 of the 3 games they lost. That doesn't mean they'll win, but the series is far from over. |

Defines him perfectly.
It matters as it is a close comparable to an expected development curve, to which Alex so far is far short.
He plays on the outside, disappears for loooooooong stretches of play, games by the way not just shifts...so completely inconsistent. While projected as a sniper, he has produced A’s...calling into question whether he is a finisher or not.
The AHL is indeed tough, men fighting for their lives, so to speak. It is also the perfect place to transition from the wide open, no check league in Europe to the in your face every second league of the NHL...so THAT is why the AHL. To date he has shown exactly 0 willingness to transition to that game.
As I said, he needs to get it together fast or he is a bust buried behind the next wave of prospects. He is already behind Baptiste and Bailey, who have not yet distinguished themselves either...doesn’t say a whole lot for him. |

Let’s hope so for the Sabres sake.
I like him, not as amcore piece though. He has a place here if he continues to mirror more closely to that 37 game stint....so around 60 - 65 pts.
So what would you offer him now as a RFA? |

Bridge deal only. He's not a core piece, but he definitely has value if he's even 'just' a 25-25 guy annually. Due to the second half barrage, and not needing to overpay him, the bridge deal helps see his progression over the next season or two. |

The fact that you're saying he's trying to hang on to his career, two months after his 20th birthday couldn't be more ridiculous.
And by your "career development path" for European players, to transition from there to here, shouldn't every draft pick out of Europe be thrown in to the AHL, then? Or do we let them develop at their own pace, ala the Pittsburgh Penguins/Detroit Red Wings model? Every player develops differently. What are most young men doing at age 18? Still living at home, for free, staying out all night, banging as much tail as possible.
No, we're just going to drop Nylander into the ocean and see if he sinks or swims. Makes sense. |

Washington has played terrifically no doub.
They seem intent on trying to physically destroy Tampa thelast 3 games...don’t blame them as they have considerable size advantage...I just wonder if it distracted them just a bit?
Vas has been simply unbelievable, kids is playing great.
Great series though, and I agree it is far from over...I’ve been biting my nails. |

I guess opinions vary.
Maybe they wanted to speed his transition time. Dumping him in the ocean would be throwing him on the 4th line in the NHL, not trying to groom his play in the AHL.
I can’t believe you ignore the best comparable in his brother, that is complexly ridiculous actually. Having him refine a game in the no checking league doesn’t really help him...he already has a skill set high on the charts...it is his position play, inconsistency in effort, etc that are the issue.
But hey, different opinions make the world go round and round. |

Agreed, opinions vary, and that's fine. But to keep comparing him to another player isn't fair to anyone. He is who he is. Poor Wayne Primeau. And If Nylander turns out to be a "Wayne Primeau", so be it.
My only contention is the "bust" label already. Too soon. |
