lol...it certainly is. They need 4 Dmen that can play shutdown Hockey in the PO's and a fourth line that can also play PO hockey. lots to do there. Even more now with Babcock having to suckhole Matthews.

Dale Hunter walks
Uncle Lou gets fired
Babcock and Star Brat not talking to each other
Terrible D
Losing star players like JVR Leo K and all star Bozak .
More holes than Freddie's goal teneding
and half of those points came on the powerplay. Laine had 2 even strength goals in 17 games - johnnykarate
Maintaining a good PP in the playoffs is a difficult thing to do. I don't see how it makes any difference. Any playoff goal is a playoff goal. He definitely under-performed against Vegas but Matthews was supposed to lead his team and he kinda pooped the bed

laine wasnt even first line, which makes his production look worse. you go from being among the top goal scorers in the nhl and then put up the same production at even strength as brandon tanev?
matthews at least went head to head against the best, laine was able to hide behind wheeler/scheifle and still underproduced. the depth the jets had all year came up dry when it mattered most (yes i am a little bitter the jets lost )

On a team where he gets as much icetime as matthews but is only expected to be the third best forward, with zero defensive responsibility, he racked up a bunch or PP points and very few 5v5. I wasn't that impressed, still would take a 1C over a 1W 10/10 times. He's the benefitiary of having better players on his team. It begins and ends with Matthews, so much different in terms of who he faces defensively/responsability. Matthews didn't play well, but it was against the best defensive center in hockey.
