Yeah the reason he doesnt have Bouchard or Dobson high is because they dont have rare or elite skills. He says they are Dmen that do a lot of things good or above average, but not too many things exceptionally. |

Fair enough, it does seem like his list is built on trying to hit homeruns
Yet he was down on EP last year compared to consensus. And I believe he liked Glass, yet Glass wasn’t considered to be a flashy offensive game breaker type of talent. |

I do respect Pronman and Button for getting away from group think and just ranking the players they like. |

I like his top 9 - VANTEL
He like's Kotkaniemi A LOT
compares him to rantanen.
They had the same stat line in Liiga........ Except Kotkaniemi did it a year earlier.
He is also the 3rd youngest player in the draft listed. |

Yeah, that’s what one of his bold rankings I can get behind. Especially with the lack of high end C’s in this draft |

Yeah it's crazy
Because Kotkaniemi is 10 months younger than Tkachuk
& Boqvist is 11 months younger than Tkachuk
That's like a whole other season of development.

I like him a lot too and before I would take Bouchard or Dobson ( same thinking as Pronman)I would also look at a C like Veleno or Hayton. I think you can pick up something similar to Bouchard or Dobson with the 37 th pick in McIssac or Miller , they may even be better defensively. That is just my opinion though . |

A Swedish hockey reporter said he’s just as good as Lundqvist
Can easily trade him for a 3rd or maybe even a late 2nd
Another excellent signing by JB👍🏿👍🏿 - Nucker101
Not enough veteran back-ups are around so prolly a 3rd or late 2nd yes |

I agree & a different take is a good thing.
Kotkaniemi’s stock has risen & not many C’s this draft. He alone could make draft jockeying happen. Who do you think wants a C like him badly? |

If we go BPA & its a F a good D should fall to us at 37👍. If not then there is a heavy run on D & another Lind type will fall to us. No matter what i still maintain we get a very good player at 37. Still pining for a trade or 2 or package deal to get more top 40 picks. |

Yeah the Hawks need everything, but they at least have a couple of decent D prospects in Jokiharju/Mitchell so I think they’d prefer a F unless a dman they really like is available
I really like Jokiharju for them, was hoping he was one of the guys who would fall to the Canucks 2nd pick last year |

All these players have issues though. Kotkanimi is a weak skater and Veleno and Hayton are safe, low upside players. I don’t want a 3C. I’d be ok with Kotkanimi if the scouts think his skating can be improved but the others are projected 8 spots after us for a reason |

Agreed. Now those are type of guys you can draft in the 2nd round. Especially Hayton, I just don't see the upside with him. Very solid defensively, but he's almost boring to watch offensively.
Valeno has some nice puck skills but he seems like a low IQ player.
Both are solid prospects, but overrated imo. I'd avoid drafting low IQ players all together, especially these days where the game is basically won on speed, skill and smarts. That's why Merkley at 10 is ridiculous to me. |

That's all his list is ever built on.
Here's what I think is the problem with his list or what his list is actually about. The highest skilled players in different categories. Which is fine but then you see players like Merkley rated ahead of Dobson or Bouchard because Merkley has that "amazing offence".
Great and all but the fact that Bouchard and Dobson can both play offence and defence and are larger and skate just as well, should put them well ahead of Merkley.
