"After the season that we had, it was a tough one, and just trying to build that excitement again for next year. I think that's just another piece to it."

I don’t want to turn this into a giant Risto/O’Reilly debate, but do people already forget how little impact those guys and most others had on this team this year?

Do they forget the 7-10+ game streaks where O’Reilly wouldn’t have a 5 on 5 point.

Or where Ristolainen would look terrible.

Or the first 40 games of Reinhart

Or the goaltending in general.

We have some bright spots for sure with Mitts, Eichel and Dahlin, and to a lesser extent Guhle and if Reinhart continues.

But this season was a total (frank)ing disaster, and there is some revisionism going on already
