Winnipeg has the best young sniper in the league and also a 90 point center
On top of that they finally got improved goaltending.
Winnipeg built through the draft and made some good trades
Drafting Dahlin is a huge start for the Sabres but they still don't have that sniper to play with their stud center.
- Stripes77
Winnipeg also had Scheiffle & Laine last year when they missed the playoffs
The only thing that’s significantly changed for them this year,
is that their goalie play was MUCH better
If we get a goalie,
that could also be true for us
AND
Our defense should be much better
Which also helps the offense,
and all the young kids coming into the lineup who actually have scoring potential
We are poised to improve significantly in all 3 areas of our team
That’s gonna make a difference
How much?
To be determined
But much like the Jets...
our good young talent (Jack, Casey, Dahlin, etc) will continue to improve as well over the next few - jdfitz77
buffalo's goaltending sucked early in the season and it sucked the wind right out of the team...the defense sucked to...so did the coaching, but sometimes great goaltending will either get you out of a funk or prevent you from going into a deep funk

Haglin is a better player then what he showed last year. But I would do Girgensons for Haglin all day long. - Pegullaville
Really?
Bc he played with Malkin for much of the year & still got only 10 goals
How many goals did Hagelin score the year before?
I’ll wait... |

What players do you want to keep ?
The only players that should be safe is jack, Casey , 2018 first
That’s it - gerbe75pts
Mitts, Eichel, Dahlin, Risto, Reinhart, Erod, ROR
Everytime Pach does an article about useful players like Scandella, Wilson, Reinhart, Risto your reflex is "not elite, sucks, trade them for elite players" |

How many have Baptiste, Bailey, Nylander, and CJ Smith have combined this year ? Hagelin would be better then Pouliot and his contract doesn’t hurt us for when we will need money. |

obviously if there's a better deal available where we take less salary i would do that. but if there isn't, that deal still makes some sense, maybe not something you specifically like but if the objective is flexibility, it makes sense.
Come on dude
U can’t really believe that?
Not only is it the NFL...
it’s also the Raiders
They have die-hard fans everywhere
Not that this isn’t cool for hockey in a new market...
but nothing tops the NFL
- jdfitz77
i said might be able to...so yes i absolutely do believe they "might be able to" since maybe being able to isn't exactly a huge push.
Fend off also doesn't mean supersede, but rather become sustainable despite a more popular sport moving to town. - Sabresfan-365
I guess i mistook what u meant then
Why wouldn’t Vegas be able to be sustainable?
Especially if they stay good
I don’t think the NFL coming would crush the Knights chance to be a decent franchise (monitarily)
I must have just completely missed what u were saying |

yeah, im saying you're betting a lot of things going right using guys with very little NHL experience.
Didn't grubauer poop the bed for the caps at the start of the playoffs? I just think it pays to have the team sorted first. Hellebuyck was monumental for the Jets, but the Jets put together a helluva team first. We're not there, yet
-Sabresfan365
1) i said, “maybe not right away”
So even if Dahlin, Guhle & Nelson don’t transform the defense on Day1,
they’re still guys that can push the puck up the ice & play the style Housley/Botts wanna play
2) The defense WILL be better
This will help the offense
3) i said it doesn’t have to specifically be Grubauer... but no, he didn’t “sh!t the bed”
Even if he had TWO bad games,
it doesn’t mean he can’t be an improvement in what we had last year in goal
And again... doesn’t have to be him
Just bring in a legit goalie to pair with Ullmark- who on his own should be better than Lehner
4) it’s not like I’m counting on Baptiste to score 30
All the things I’m saying are reasonable & obvious
Go ahead & tell me what isn’t |

So who is our elite winger?
So who is this goaltender that is going to be at Hasek-esq levels to carry this team.
Buffalo is very far away. They finished in 31st by a long shot, not one point out of the playoffs.
You are severely under stating how bad this team actually was. |

Since u decided not to answer,
Hagelin had 6 goals the year before
And was on pace for a whopping 8 if he played 80 games
So please...
tell me again how he’s better than last year?
Apparently u think he’s better than he actually is
Any of the young guys u mentioned have the potential to do at least that
And at 1/5 of the salary
Hagelin isn’t good
He’s just a dude
Who’s overpaid
So if we are helping Pitt by taking him,
he better come with something that’s gonna be part of the future here
We don’t need a stopgap
It’s a terrible idea |

just go out back to the winger tree and pick one...was lead to believe all season that it was as easy as that |

dunno if you're referring to me but I've regularly said it is easier(not easy, especially not elite ones) to find wingers than d-men.
If Mittelstadt is as good as they say he is, he and Eichel won't need too many high end wingers. |

Keep all the players until they have no value left and hope for the best
Gm JCrag - gerbe75pts
That's probably a fair criticism to some degree. I still think the players you want traded 90, 23, 55, will be better than they have been when put in a position to succeed with better talent around them. |

Avs were worse, and made the playoffs this year. We lost 20 games by 1 goal. We are not bad as you think. Eichel has another level, Mittelstadt is fantastic, and Dahlin is the real deal. The last two aforementioned players bump everyone down a notch making the team as a whole better as well. How many teams have a 60 point 3rd line Centre like ROR (and yes I expect Mittelstadt to be the 2nd line Centre by 20 games into the season) |

U guys act like all these things we need have to be acquired NOW
Can we sign a good UFA winger at some point?
I bet we can
We certainly can get a better goalie
Idk where you’re getting the Hasek-like nonsense from?
No goalie is/will ever be Hasek-like

A lot of hopes and dreams here. To say Mitts is fantastic after a few games, Dahlin is the real deal before stepping on NHL ice is what you HOPE, not facts. We are as bad as he thinks, and have been for 5 years. We have the potential to get get much better. But we still don't know yet/ |

A third line of Hagelin-ROR-Reinhart would be a good line. Tell me who in free agency we are going to sign ? And what other winger we can acquire for Girgensons that can play worth a crap ? We’d be lucky to get a 4th round pick for Girgensons. |
