Idk that Girgs isn’t better than Hagelin if u played him next to Malkin all year
Hagelin is just a guy
10goals last year
6 the year before
He’s not doing anything to help us really
Unless he’s some magical leader who can give a speech that will “change the culture”
Blah blah blah - jdfitz77
He brings cups And he knows how to put up points in the playoffs he steps up his game in the playoffs
we don’t have anybody in the locker room that knows how to win he knows how to win

They will be in the lineup as well.
Erod-Eichel-Bailey
Smith-Mittelstadt-Okposo
Hagelin-ROR-Reinhart
Baptiste-Larsson-Pominville - Pegullaville
Ok...
then give O’Regan a chance instead of Hagelin
He’s a guy we don’t “need”
who is basically a cap dump for Pitt
So all I’m saying,
is that if we were to trade for him...
Treat it like he’s Pommer in the Minny deal,
bc we are doing Pitt a pretty big favor
Give me Sheary with him,
and then we can add a “Foligno” type asset
Don’t just bail Pitt out
Take advantage of the situation |

Their shooting percentage was one of the worst on record
They can't score, they can't prevent goals from getting scored on them, but you know they lost 20 1 goal games...
They are bad, really really bad.
1 player in Dahlin isn't going to make this team a playoff team.
There needs to be changes, and lots of them.
There needs to be time to develop the good young players on this roster.
The problem I see is the core of this group is so young that when they are eventually firing on all cylinders the Sabres aren't going to be able to keep all of them because of their ELC's being up and new contracts kicking in.
If it takes 3 years for everyone to really be firing you will have Dahlin at or near $10 million, Mittelstadt around $8 million, Nelson around $5 million, Guhle around $6 million and of course Jack at $10 million with a possible ROR at $7.5 million.
It scares me.
This young talent (in a perfect world) should be put in a lineup ready to make waves, but instead this young talent is expected to be the ones to right the ship.
It is not a good outlook unless there are some major changes. - Stripes77
Great post.
Everyone likes to project the cap going up every year. Too few acknowledge that will raise salaries and that there's already huge upward pressure on 2nd contracts. Some of your numbers are probably low.

I wonder if anybody put a grand on those odds at the beginning of the season wish I did - cabin
I am sure a ton of people from Vegas bet good money on them just because. I am sure if they win it all they lose quiet a bit. |

This was never Girgensons team
It's always been Fitz's team - sbroads24
I don’t get it
I wanted to trade Girgs after we drafted him
I wasn’t among the “he will be our future Captain” crowd |

I can
You’re saying we get over 3mil in Cap space, but that’s not true bc u have to account for other guys entering the lineup |

Let’s say we keep O’Reilly next year
Where do u think we finish? - jdfitz77
I say no matter they keep him, get rid of him, get a goalie etc. we are still a bottom 5 team. We are REALLY bad. Hopefully in 2 years we are sniffing the playoffs. |

I don't hate ror
I don't like him
my fear is his game drops off in 2 years and we are stuck with another bad contract
wrong move, wrong time
I blame murray |

Now this makes a lot more sense than just:
-trade ROR for picks, etc
-thrust Casey into the 2C role
-have no one who can handle the defensive assignments ROR took on
Nice post sir
We’d probably have to give Stastny a longer term though
But the general idea is a good one |

We are basically getting him for peanuts so why not do it?
We need speed he fits that category is good on the penalty kill
Having someone like him might help out the younger players to know what it takes |

Yikes
I disagree & hope you’re wrong
Just to give u a ray of hope...
did u think the AVs or Jersey would make the playoffs this year?
What about the Leafs the year before?

He’ll be gone next offseason, or shift to the wing and take face offs and Eichel’s line. His days as a Centre in this league are numbered. |

I’d rather Bozak. But same premise. If we move ROR we need someone to handle those defensive minutes. |

I don’t think ROR or Kane were the wrong moves
I think they didn’t work like he thought,
Bc he royally whiffed on ALL the defense moves he made
And it confuses me that ppl think ROR will have this big drop off before he even hits 30
I guess it could happen
But it would seem to be the exception,
not the rule |

I guess if i thought Hagelin was anything other than a passenger on Pitt then maybe I’d agree more with you
But even then...
take advantage of Pitt if we are helping them out
Get a better deal |
