He’s not a 1st or 2nd line player but for the 3rd he’s a nice add he would help us on our penalty kill and his speed would help us also
And he gets you 20+ goals what’s not to love ? |

Not saying we’d get a great return...
did i?
I’m fine with a pick for him
Better than taking someone’s Cap dump & retaining salary
Makes zero sense - jdfitz77
if you read the other posts, it makes sense. gives you flexibility the year after. If bogo only gets you a 6th last year, he gets you nothing this year. |

We turned down a 6th rounder last year. I doubt anyone's offering much of anything for him now

For those of us in Buffalo who've been watching the disaster, both self-imposed and not, that's been the Sabres for the last five seasons, the success of Vegas seems to make many Sabres fans envious at best, jealous at worst and it would probably be the sentiment league-wide. How can an expansion team have some much success in one season while we've been through the ringer for years, even decades?
There's only one way to approach this--roll with it and enjoy it for what it is.
Well said. I am very jealous. I can only imagine how WPG must feel. They ran into a buzzsaw expansion team after beating who i thought would win it all - NSH

Winnipeg has the best young sniper in the league and also a 90 point center
On top of that they finally got improved goaltending.
Winnipeg built through the draft and made some good trades
Drafting Dahlin is a huge start for the Sabres but they still don't have that sniper to play with their stud center.
- Stripes77
Winnipeg also had Scheiffle & Laine last year when they missed the playoffs
The only thing that’s significantly changed for them this year,
is that their goalie play was MUCH better
If we get a goalie,
that could also be true for us
AND
Our defense should be much better
Which also helps the offense,
and all the young kids coming into the lineup who actually have scoring potential
We are poised to improve significantly in all 3 areas of our team
That’s gonna make a difference
How much?
To be determined
But much like the Jets...
our good young talent (Jack, Casey, Dahlin, etc) will continue to improve as well over the next few |

I know very well the Gerbe school of GM philosophy:
Trade all players who are not elite for elite players. Draft only elite players |

Hagelin scores 10 goals & costs 4mil
Why on earth would u want to bring that here?
Not that he’s terrible or anything,
but it’s also not like HE was responsible for the Pens winning
He’s their Pouliot, but WAY overpaid
If we do trade for him,
it’s doing Pitt a big favor with the Cap
So we better get a discount on another player with him
Like when we took Pommer & got a deal on Scandella
- jdfitz77
Haglin is an upgrade over what we have, fits the North-South tempo hockey Botts wants to play. Only on contract (I believe) for another 1-2 years. He’s a stop gap until we improve our wing depth
-Pegulaville
Still don’t want him
Not unless he’s coming with a player who’s actually part of our future
Sheary?
Someone like that
If we are doing Pitt a favor by taking him,
we better get good deal on another player
We don’t NEED a “stopgap”
Let the kids get their shot
They have more potential than a 4mil 3rd liner who scores 10 goals |

The only players that should be safe is jack, Casey , 2018 first

No, it doesn’t
We can get rid of Bogo (if we are retaining),
without adding someone’s Cap dump to our roster |

Haglin is a better player then what he showed last year. But I would do Girgensons for Haglin all day long. |

obviously if there's a better deal available where we take less salary i would do that. but if there isn't, that deal still makes some sense, maybe not something you specifically like but if the objective is flexibility, it makes sense.
Come on dude
U can’t really believe that?
Not only is it the NFL...
it’s also the Raiders
They have die-hard fans everywhere
Not that this isn’t cool for hockey in a new market...
but nothing tops the NFL
- jdfitz77
i said might be able to...so yes i absolutely do believe they "might be able to" since maybe being able to isn't exactly a huge push.
Fend off also doesn't mean supersede, but rather become sustainable despite a more popular sport moving to town.
