Doug Weight is arguably a worse coach than Jack Capuano. The defense were all doing the same inexplicably dumb shat the entire season until they miraculously stopped when he "changed his system" when they were already out of the playoffs.
That defense being as terrible as it was had something to do with talent but a lot more to do with coaching IMO. - Cptmjl
I agree Cpt. Doug might have been even worse than Cappy. |

Lots of teams have injured D-men. They make their way through it. That's what coaches do. Yes, there were a lot of injuries to key people, but you have to make adjustments. Play to the strengths of your personnel. Weight doesn't do that. He ended up being almost exactly like Crappy. - Isleshockeyman

Weight played the kids. That's the one positive I see over Capuano other than that it's a wash or worse in every category. |

So having all Dmen activate and especially when you have injuries is not a good idea? |

Yes every defender behind the opposing team's net always is never a good plan and let's not fool ourselves and think that WASN'T THE PLAN. It most definitely was and cost us a shat ton of goals against. That had nothing to do with Calvin DeHaan of all players being injured. The same DeHaan that half this thread didn't want to resign and was happy snow offered him less on a new contract |

Sure seemed like the plan. I do think the Toews injury was a killer.
It made me laugh when fans from other teams said the Isles need to trade for Price or Hank. Yes the Isles need better goalies, but how much can someone like Hank or Price do if the team is playing this lousy system? |

Sounds like Garth could still hold the reigns for one last draft, unless Lou handles it, since it looks like Hunter wouldn't be able to start working for the organization until late summer. - eichiefs9
I'm sure he can call Lou on his cell and say these are the good guys and no one would know. Adding hunter would be huge he is very good at scouting talent. I also see where kovelchuk might have interest here with lou. Now if you're jt and Lou says to you look I'm gonna bring in Ilya and hes either on your wing or barzals that has to be a good thing. |

Look the isles can score and kovelchuk likes Lou, I'm sure playing on a line with barzal ir tavarez would be a huge draw for him. Imagine barzal making those passes to him instead of ladd I mean holy cow he could score 40 |

In fairness, back then Garf offered Kovy the 1st $100m contract offer back then when the Kings didnt pony-up and NJ snuck in with their offer & got him... |

Just kidding.
It was a lot. - eichiefs9
The best part is Malkin actually talked no Ledecky anywhere. Scott probably said look you were being a jackass on the trains, go get your teeth fixed and simmer down |

Yep, I mean the Lou quote in the article literally says "I am excited to join such a storied franchise and look forward to working with Scott Malkin and the entire New York Islanders organization,"
I think Ledecky got pushed aside for handling everything like a dingus. |

Neither the word Garth nor the word Snow is in the press release announcing Lou’s hire.

Lou does not take a back seat, and will groom his son, no back seat is why he left Toronto, one would have to believe this will be his last job, and you cant tell me he has anything but the holy grail in mind to go out with! |

It is with great relief and thankfulness that I come before you and admit that I was half wrong. THANK GOD!
If you recall, I stated many times that JT would walk for nothing and Snow would remain GM.
Now, if JT can just sign. I would love to be 100% completely wrong in my statements. That is all. Fire away! |
