Just a thought about the Panthers blogger, he is in favor of them making a move for Brendan Smith from the Rags,........ So there is that. |

Here's a mock draft to change the subject a little.....

Barrett Hayton (C) and Ty Smith (D) are this guy's predictions to become Islanders. - JohnScammo
I’m thinking Mr Lamoriello is going to use 1 if not both to get a Goaltender and or a Couple top 4 dmen. I think JHS and or Brook Nelson will also be trade bait.
I think he will be very active in the next month changing the make up of the team before July 1st giving JT a good feeling about the team, hopefully.
Thinking that if JT doesn’t sign Lou L will move him to the highest bidder. It’s going to be an interesting month ahead imho.

Ha ha. Be careful what you wish for.
I read through due to a recent conversation with Eklund to see how atmosphere was on boards bc HB always had a great forum/reader response. I’ve noticed a change in tenor on isles fans... and this includes me, sadly, in response .... over the years. So we all I guess are getting tired of bumps in road and need to see the light at end of tunnel consistently. |

OMG! Gag me with a spoon!
Moving JT at this late date "to the highest bidder" might mean obtaining a 3rd round pick. Also, I think Lou will do a complete assessment of the team. If he feels the team is close, then those types of trades make sense. If he feels the team has too many holes to contend for the Cup, then he may hold onto those picks to build for the future. |

I have a hard time believing the isles keep both picks. I think Lou brings in a goalie and a dman via trade at the draft. |

He’s already said the team is close. It’s a lot closer than Toronto when he took over up there.
The next month will tell us what he’s going to do.
If JT isn’t signing you take what you can unfortunately. That said I think Lou will get it done unless of course JT or his new Bride don’t want to live on the Island or some other reason that you really can’t do anything about. |

That’s a given just wanted him to know he had another huge fan
BTW, here’s what Lou said about The Islanders in reference to competing for the Cup.
“A league source indicated to Newsday this past week that Lamoriello was attracted to the Islanders’ job because he believes he can win right away and the organization has the assets to do so.”

Rather not have either, like 3 kids at both spots and not sure if they will be there.
But, Im not trading either pick for a G unless an elite became available which I dont see, so a 2nd rd pick is enuff for a G imho.
Lee/Nelson/Cizikas/etc are assets to get players here..... |

Wait until fans realize that lou’s evaluation period will have business as usual. Though Lou’s not risk averted as Garth is. So that will be a big influence in a good way right off bat. I think there was 80% chance isles were going to make a deal in round 1 even before Lou took over. I’m sure that’s now at 90-95%. |

If they pay JT plus others, I just dont see team paying $7m+ for him
Unless the shed solid contracts and get players on the cheap.. |
