I'd definitely consider it, having the 3rd, 10th & all those 2nds would do wonders as far as replenishing the prospect pool goes and you still have Pacioretty to move! |

Would the Oilers do that? Maybe....mtl might need to take some $$$ in the trade. Wich I think we could, at least short term. |

For sure they could!
They could use their cap space as an asset in a lot of different trades this summer |

Looking at their team, that might mean Russell. I would not go near Lucic. |

We had 9 million in cap space and we get rid of Weber's 7.something million. We ain't doing too bad. |

Unlikely.
Simply because MB will say Price + Weber = Tavares to MTL. |

All these "rebuild" type proposals I keep throwing out there are based on the assumption that JT is not signing in MTL... |

I don't think Tavares will sign here, either. And I agree, we should ditch as much as possible from the roster to get solid prospects that will develop together in 2-3-4 years.
But until Tavares officially decides where he is going, I don't see MB doing anything significant to the roster that will have any veteran players moved out.
And, if by some strange miracle Tavares does sign, I expect MB to throw assets away to get more "veteran" type players to play around Tavares, making things ultimately worse. |

Don't you think Bergevin will have at least a hint of whether or not he has an actual shot at Tavares by the draft, considering his relationship with Pat Brisson?

Here are the players the Habs need to send qualifying offers to in order to retain their rights
Daniel Carr, Phillip Danault, Jacob de la Rose, Markus Eisenschmid, Zachary Fucale, Jeremy GrΓ©goire, Michael McCarron, Tom Parisi, Kerby Rychel, Logan Shaw, and Rinat Valiev.
I think Carr and Shaw are gone - stinger67
Carr generated a bit of offense last season so yes I'm guessing he's gone. |

Until Tavares signs, I don't think MB does anything - especially with any player perceived as being part of the "core". |

It is all a PR move... he knows he has like a 0.0000001% chance of getting Tavares, but he wants to make it look like he really tried.
That way we will be happy when we go to a "Plan B" of Stastny and Bozak. |
