There going to draft his wing in this draft top 5 (e5) - gerbe75pts
Surprisingly, that may actually be a realistic option. There is always a Chance Bergevin is Desperate (Dumb) enough to trade the Sabres #3OA for ROR in order to get Montreal a real Center. Besides that I don't think it is possible to get another top pick. |

Olofsson is a perfect candidate to plug into a top six complimentary role down the line. I do worry about Housleys patience with a guy like him tho |

I also have this bad feeling that the Sabres will need to Draft a Franchise LW for Eichel and may need a high pick to do it. Then again there is a very realistic chance that Olofsson may turn into a 30-40 goal winger for Eichel. The problem there is he has to be given a real shot at becoming a first line winger and not be kept on the 3rd/4th line like the Sabres tend to do for all the players they don't draft in the first round. - Sabrehagan
Pitt has won without a “franchise winger” for Crosby or Malkin
Granted Kessel is one, but he doesn’t play with either like you suggest we need to with Eichel
Maybe we just need a “Hornqvist” or 2,
and not necessarily a “Pat Kane”
More than 1 way to build a winner |

I am going to keep my fingers crossed that it isnt. I cant find anywhere saying it is. And a 3 draft wait to use the asset acquired in a trade would be a bummer. - Mentalorgasm5
Could always call the Sabres and ask.
I called the NHL last year when there was conflicting dates for the TDL. Some articles had the normal March 1st and others, including when you googled it, had a different date a few days earlier. The guy gave me the answer, it was the 1st, but then he wouldn't let me off the phone. I think he was really bored. |

By all accounts, he needs much work defensively, which hopefully he takes care of in Rochester, or yes, he'll be a 3rd or 4th liner. |

Ken Holland did. Don't know how "smart" he is, but he's won 3 Cups. |

Eichel, Dahlin, Mitts, Risto, Reinhart, 2 first rounders in 2019. As long as we draft well we are going to be a very good hockey club for a very long time. Botts needs a repeat of last years draft (Mittelstadt at 8) next year. If we find two impact players in the 1st round next year the sky is the limit for this club. |

Is it just me or does it aggravate anyone else that the Sabres' coaching staff, no matter who it has been, never really gives young guys not drafted in the First a Real Chance to play in the top six? I don't mean for a few shifts or even a game or two I mean a Real good extended look at a player like Baptiste (There are and have been others) for example to see if he can succeed in that role. People keep bringing up the Vegas model as if the real reason they played so well was because they started from scratch. I think the best thing Vegas did was give players a chance to succeed at a higher level, like Karlsson for example, who was only given bottom six minutes on Columbus. Vegas gave players a real chance to succeed at a higher level, mostly out of necessity, but also because I think they have a coach patient enough to see what his players could do when given a role that better suited them. |

Unfortunately, I don't think Carolina management would be Dumb enough to trade the 2nd Overall pick to frankly anyone. Then again their new Owner, well I don't have a word for it, but nothing would surprise me with this guy. |

I think its just BS politics between coaches and players. Housley has already shown some red flags in that region. He seems to play favorites and I absolutely hate it. But it exists all across the league it seems. I have a bad feeling about Housley and the Europeans. I just have this bad feeling that if the players dont speak his "language" they wont be favored |

Is there a winger we could sign who actually fits what Botts is looking for?
I know JvR isn’t “fast” per se,
but should we consider going “all in” for him?
Obviously he’s proven to be a consistent scorer, even though given fairly limited icetime in a middle6 role |

From what I tend to see from most Toronto fans is that signing JVR, especially at what it will probably cost (think Kane's new deal) would be a bad idea. He isn't the type of scorer that the Sabres need, tends to be more like Sam R. and gets most of his goals down low and in front of the net. I don't think it's worth spending top dollar on a player like that and I think Toronto agrees or they would be re-signing him. |
