Idk if it will happen...
but it’s my OPINION of what we SHOULD do
Bc that would maximize his numbers, thus increasing his trade value
Or at least making him tradable,
which he probably isn’t right now - jdfitz77
Kind of ironic that you'd want to work so hard to maximize someone's trade value, but don't want to deal other players who are near their peak value and are against acquiring players at a low point in their value. Gotta jump in all the way if that's your game.
Vanek scores 24 goals last year
17 & 18 the 2 previous years,
which is why he was stuck signing with Detroit & Vancouver
He had a good year last season though,
so he should have much better options in free agency this year
It’s not happening
I’ll bet u anything u want - jdfitz77
You seem pretty confident. Makes me feel even more likely that vanek signs here.
Any particular reason except his speed issues?
Where is he going? That extra 6 goals last year will really open up the offers.

The perception that someone just did “ok” when they score 17/18 goals vs having a “good” season scoring 24
That’s a pretty big % increase...
is it not?
You’re the one who says I’m wrong 98% of the time or whatever...
make the bet
Put your $$$ where your mouth is
(So to speak)
And it’s not just his speed issues
It’s adding ANOTHER slow player to a top9 that already includes ROR, Reinhart, Okposo & Pommer
Like i said though...
I’m cool with a 1 year deal, bc we could then trade him for a pick at the deadline
But i don’t think he’d even consider signing here
(Unless I’m wrong and no good teams make him any offers)

When a team signs vanek are they expecting 17-18 goals or 24.
I would think a smart GM would take an average of the 3 years? 19.66 goal average?

It depends if the coach puts him on a line with Eichel or Larsson.
Our team has a history of expecting the same or more out of a player from another team playing with lesser talent.
I have 0 interest in Vanek. We need speed - sbroads24
Take a break after a few days, eat even if your not hungry, you'll be able to out drink a mule but you'll feel like one for a month afterwards. Depending on where your bender is, I'd say it's not worth it.
But yes I preached this bullpoop a year ago, this roster is slow and filled with peasants.

Hearing the Sharks and Evander Kane have agreed to a long-term contract extension. Numbers may be in the 7-years 7-million per range
1) Ryan O’Reilly will be 28 or 29 when we’re trying to fight for the playoffs his value is at the highest point you trade him and let’s not forget the game is going faster now he’s not gonna be able to keep up by then probably
2) I don’t trust a guy that all of a sudden starts playing half the season it just shows me he doesn’t have heart and he only cares about one thing “money” and the game is going at a faster rate and he’s not gonna be able to keep up to
3) Ristolainen Is very overrated on these boards I don’t think he’s a number one or franchise defenseman I’ve seen him get Beat on the easiest defensive plays
4) trading maybe two out of the three will help the depth of the organization for winger help and defensive help and Will get some young up and coming players that we can slot on the first or second line - gerbe75pts
You mean like this?
Everyone does, dude.
I'm not saying he's Doughty, or even a number 1, but he's definitely a piece you build with.

WTF are they on? I mean that's good for us, but holy hell that's a bad deal, and I like Kane.
Is that legit? What is that irf at the end of sportsnet?

Sucks we have to wait a year for that 1st. Hopefully san Jose falls apart

If true that's crazy, never thought any gm would give him that kind of term, based on the game he plays, and any potential off ice stuff.
