The only actual reason to keep him as far as I can tell is that he's already under contract. It's not a good reason, but it's a reason
- jcragcrumple

I wouldnt be surprised if at least half the team was available at the trade deadline and no one was interested.
Who would trade anything for bottom 6 guys on a 31st place team?
Larsson should play in Rochester next year. He can walk the following year.
All the other UFAs can suck rocks.

I just really cant see us moving forward and winning next year with Larsson as a starter even as a 4th liner.

Press box or multiple injuries reserve is his calling.
Only because he has a year left on his contract.

The irony of trading pommer and starting this rebuild for Larsson would be symbolic to remove him from the organization. The tank's are complete. Time to move forward with some speed or scoring instead of what he's bringing. ( which I assume is a checking center?)

I don't particularly want to defend Larsson, but what if he returns to pre-injury form? He was a solid defensive bottom 6 guy. That said, I'd probably buy him out. It's exceptionally cheap.

There isn't much upside in buying a guy out with 1 year left. You retain a bit of salary and someone will take him as a defensive option for a late pick.

You don't want to offer Johnson a large contract to convince him to come back?

This is what you said.

"Larsson isnt as bad as you guys make him out to be."

I'm saying with statistical backing -4 goals in 80 games last year- that he isnt a 4th liner.

He is a 5th liner or ahl/overseas guy.

He is terrible , you defended him and will now be associated with his failures. Well done.

What i said in bold is a far cry from your BS response of:

“We all have FAVORITES, no shame that Larsson is your guy”

But of course, you would think that’s the same thing

I just think his ship his sailed. I agree: buy out candidate.

Not sure if he would have been a regular for any other nhl franchise other than the Sabres, who have finished last 3 out of the last 5 years.

Slow, cant score and positionally locked in at center.

Culture change begins with him.

Isn't scoring "a couple more goals" almost doubling his output?

I'll be able to spot you at the games next year, you'll be the only one wearing a Larsson Jersey at the Sabres games. (That includes johan)

If he had even a little more offensive output, or at least had some wheels he could be a decent 4th liner, he's aggravating to play against, so he draws a fair amount of penalties, but he's such an anchor it's really not worth it.

In the 3 previous seasons,
he scored 22 goals in 149games
That’s a pace for 12goals over 82games

So while he’s not a “favorite” of mine,
he’s an “ok” 4th liner

I’m also totally fine if we get rid of him
He’s just not as bad as most say

I'm skeptical that we could give him away right now. If you can't, and you don't want him back, then a buyout seems like a real option. If he comes to camp to fight for a job, that's fine too. Maybe he can bounce back a bit. I don't care too much either way.

Caps might be interested
They might not be able to afford to re-sign Beagle if they keep Carlson
Also gotta sign Wilson

Serious question, how many people do you need to turn on you before you admit you may be the problem?

I think it's crazy to think a team that good wants a player that bad. There's better options for league minimum.

I suspect they'll bring him back as the 4C for no other reason than they don't want any of the C's in Roch to step in too early.

Same reason I think they'll keep Bogo around

Finding defensive C's who even when used in heavy defensive usage can produce is tricky

Better off changing the role of that line altogether and giving it a new look imo

He’s decent defensively & scores goals at a double digit pace
The Caps might not be interested
I believe someone will be though

Can’t they just waive him, send him down?
