Everybody keeps saying there'll be a lockout, which I have no idea if that is going to happen, but is the thought that not only it will happen, but it will also be an entire season long?
- kingcong39

I'm just curious about something. Are they not allowed to negotiate until the current CBA is done? If they are able to negotiate I don't understand why we keep getting Lockouts. Don't you think they should be working on things already so that once the time comes to sign a new one they are ready to just hash out the final details and get the thing signed? Makes no sense to me unless they have to wait until the current CBA expires to even start negotiation. If they don't there should be no excuse for why there would be a Lockout. You would think it would be their top priority. By not getting it done in time for the new season all they are doing is losing money for all those involved, players & owners alike. But the ones that really suffer are us the fans, but why would they be worried about us they rarely have been.

I would throw a 2 year $16 million contract at Kovi and I can get on board with that being a smarter play than signing Tavares.

But like you said Kovi isn't coming here

- Stripes77

kovi is a whore

whoever pays him the most, that is where he will go

What people forget is that we were also out of the race by like October. Hard to get motivated to play when you’re not playing for something team wise.

i can't see it if they're not down to move a big fish off this current team. You'd be relying on the SJ 1st and i guess Nylander to swing a trade.
- Sabresfan-365

I'm done giving up 1st round picks, unless it's part of a deal for a no brainer impact forward or defense that fits the age range that is optimal.

Trading 1st round picks was part of the problem that begat this mess.

who would you rather have, pommer for 1 year at 5.6 mil

or Kovy for a year at 8 mil

or mike green for 2 years at 16 mil?

I would rather have more upside on a guy for a year or 2

nothing against pommer, it's a cap era

- homiedclown

oh me too. I just dont think we'll find anyone for Pommer. Okposo is the toughest contract for us to move right now IMO. So i would love to see botts get creative and get something done.

Well yea.. what else would we trade it for? We wont make that same mistake of trading a 1st for a goalie again.

I think it points to a competitive fire. When they had motivation to play a game in February, they could do it.

When they're playing some random team, it wasn't there.

I know, I know, they make millions of dollars, they should show up every game

if they wanted to move pommer, and retain half his salary they could

if we don't make bold moves for a playoff push, it's a waste of a roster space and holding a kid back

with casey and dahlin, we are much better but as the eye test proved last season

a few more moves need to be made to compete for a playoff spot

unless ullmark becomes hasek overnight

8 million for next year and the year after?

Dude can't play defense or score outside of the power play, this isn't the guy you pay 8 million dollars for no matter what the term

Kessel is 2x the player then anyone on that list. Should we shy away from Tavares too because of the contract Martin hanzal signed last offseason ?
- Pegullaville

No, but don’t move youth for short term solutions. If it’s a hockey trade I’m all for it.

Probably will be the scapegoat end of the year. Next manager will have it made with Guerrero Jr. and Bichette

Is he a no brainer impact forward? Yes

Is a late first round pick in 2019 worth moving for that? yes

Even with out the no move, it's probably going to take a haul to get him coming off a career year.

This team needs to look for guys who haven't quite peaked yet. around the 21-24 years old group.

The sharks pick should 100% be moved this summer for an impact winger imo.

I don't care for that pick to maaybe make an impact in 2022

Take your own advice

I think (because i believe a potential lockout will take a full year) that it may take 3/4 years.

He said next year, for me personally the earliest I could see it as of right now if a lot of things go right is 19-20 but I think it's highly doubtful, thus my 3-4 year timeline
