He spent his rookie season playing consistently with Eberle and/or Pouliot. Smart, calculated move by Edmonton (even with the flack I'll take for saying anything positive on Pouliot). So, my answer is, more than you're suggesting. - Lunaion
imo, the only thing mcdavid needed those two for was to make three on his line...mcdavid did what he's wired to do, regardless of who was on the ice with him |

we do have a ton of LD's though - homiedclown
Scandella 28 yrs old
Beaulieu 25 years old
McCabe 24 years old
Pilut 22 years old
Guhle 20 years old
Dahlin 18 years old
I mean, it's not really a tough decision who has to go here. |

While there's some truth to that offensively, you know how hard McDavid/Eichel/any prospect has to work defensively.
Ekblad play his entire rookie reason next to Brian Campebell. It makes perfect sense.
I don't think it's crazy to think that the Sabres are very seriously considering his partner and that they may look outside the organization for him.

Hedman played 21 minutes a night in his rookie season
Ekblad played 22 minutes a night
with a hall of fame d man behind our bench, I see no reason to expect Dahlin to get anything less than 22 minutes a night
gloves come off and we finally turn this f@cking corner - homiedclown

He didn't need mentoring. He needed competency on wings and blue line. It's 3 years, Im still waiting on it. - Sabresfan-365
He needed quite a bit of development in the maturity scale. A solid mentor outdoor have helped speed that by bring an older perspective on things. |

Somebody has to go then. Dahlin, Risto, Scandella, McCabe, Nelson, Bogo, Guhle and Beaulieu are all under contract |

Blow-u!?!?
No friggin way. That guy should be in the A, not paired with a future superstar!
The kid Is purported to be an all star party animal.
I think not.
The whole point of the topic of bringing in a D partner from the outside is no one on the SabresD s a suitable mentor and partner...especially if Dahlin plays on the left.

You're welcome. With no doubt or drama for the first pick, I wanted to have a name or two to root for falling in the 2nd round. Ideally, I was hoping for a LW but couldn't really find a realistic one to hope for. But there could be some intriguing Dmen to fall, as well. |

Blow-u ... waived, sent down...holy crap I don’t even want him as a 7th
Gehle ... down since they can without waiver wire....that gives them time to trade one of Scandella or McCabe. |

Since you and the Beady Eyed Douche bag have issues with me using sysmbols, I posted that.
I was sent a PM from CAPT. E.O. Awhile back regarding language being used in posts, I was told to use a symbol or let it auto correct. There is something in EK's rules on conduct and that falls into it. So that's why I used $# those. Happy now |

That's fine. It feels like people think there won't be any additions on D because we have a lot already. I think that's flawed. The group we have isn't that good.

I don't agree with sending Guhle down in favor of a vet to mentor Dahlin unless the vet is actually better than Guhle.
That sends a bad message to the players in Roch
McCabe is a former captain and a plenty good mentor, if they want to keep him |

If they don't sign Carlson, which they have next to no chance to sign, I believe he starts with Nelson and it won't be long until he's paired with Risto, unless the Dahlin - Nelson pair are crushing it and they play the top 4 close to evenly. - kingcong39
I can definitely see that being the case.
Dahlin-Nelson
Scandella-Risto
Have the two big boys playing 20 min a night on different pairs makes this team harder to play against imo. |

Meh. Life is tough.
“hey Brandon. We just were awarded a once in a life opportunity...no offense, but we are bringing in a guy to mentor a cornerstone future superstar...the goal is to get him there sooner than normal. Now go make us force a trade...that is your sole goal in the next 3 months.” |
