You're** an idiot.
Arizona isn't going to extend Hjalmarsson.
They will have the pick of Bouchard or Boqvist - it makes sense that they would be open to adding a young + cheaper piece.
Ask 30 GMs and see if they would rather have Ceci or Hjalmarsson. At worst it's close to a tie - AlfieisKing
Wanna bet about hammer re-signing?
Bonus: seesee <<<<<< hammer |

If what you're saying about 30 GMs wanting Ceci over Hammer is true then why would Ottawa trade a younger cheaper ceci for him?
Face it, Ceci is a pylon. He's AT BEST a bottom pairing dman and the sens should have gotten rid of him when they had the chance |

Sue Sherring is hated by all. Media and in political circles. She ran in last muncipal election. Alfredsson knew exactly what he was doing. Alfie is on board with Watson only to get the team sold to (Hunt and the gang). He knew Sherring would spill the beans.
This is a orchestrated attempt at a cu de ta (spelling?) |

I think this is close to likely outcome including the full participation of Ottawa Sports and Entertainment. This is a huge project. The contract for enviornmental remediation on the LeBretton lands is probably $100m just on land site preparation.
Way too much money involved over a very long period of time not to get it right.
Melnyk wants more. A number will be found soon enough.
Found it interesting that Sens made huge contribution to kids summer camp yesterday. Melnyk trying to squeeze out a few departing positives. |

coup d'état - SensFan25
More like a squeeze play. Many of the Sens corporate fan base have pulled back and aligned themselves with the new ownership interests. it is one thing for fans to be upset with Melnyk. But, now it is the serious money interests.
The LeBretton and Bayview projects come in at nearly $8b not counting infrastructure costs for the LRT system.
Every huge developer in Canada is interested in taking on some part of projects.
I believe Melnyk wanted a part in the total plan. Just not going to happen.
Developers want shovels in the ground yesterday. One morning soon we will wake up to discover it has all been settled.
Money is like water. it seeks its own level. In this case, it is the money that will finally define how the new enterprise is structured |

People seem to forget that owners get into this business to make money. More money than they had before. Players are not obligated to sign contracts with the team. They do so voluntarily because they're happy with the terms and the money they are being paid for their services. Again, the owner then finds ways to make as much money as possible with the assets acquired.
It's unreasonable to be mad at Melnyk for wanting to make more money all the time, or for not paying Alfredsson more than what his contract entailed, or more than what he was seemed worth to the club. It's business folks. Capitalism. It's like this everywhere in the Western world.
The issue with Melnyk is he simply has to stay out of the limelight. That's it. Make your money and shut up.

Finally a Sens fan with a sense of reality, Alfie does that all the time, will try to trade for Player A on Team X and try to explain to why the Sens player that he is giving up is sooo good and Team X should be jumping at the chance to get them.
If they were so good why would you want to get rid of him. And in Ceci's case, he sucks as a 2nd Pairing Dman |

The issue with melnyk is that he has no idea how to make money with an NHL franchise......and further to that, he cant afford to.
He wants to own a team, but his "lack of resources" force him to continuously refinance the team, meaning massive interest payments eat up any potential profit. Most smart business people would sell at that point, realizing they can't afford to keep that asset. Melnyk just continues to refinance, and blaming his customers for his lack of profit. He also drastically cuts expenses in a business where you need to spend to make.
Melnyk' s ego and stubbornness are preventing him from doing what is in EVERYONE'S best interest (including his own). |

Expansion team fees of $500M for Vegas and the $650M figure proposed for Seattle versus the $230M paid for the Winnipeg Jets would suggest that he has benefited very significantly by hanging on as long as possible. |

Paajarvi signed to a one year 900,000 deal.
Pretty indifferent signing. Won't make a big difference on the 4th line, but I thought he was alright last year. Depends if they'd have been better off putting a young guy from Bingo there I suppose. |

And despite that, he's still bleeding money cuz of the millions in annual interest payments he has to make.
Unless you're the Yankees, owning a sports franchise shouldn't be your primary income.....for melnyk it is. It's pretty much the only business he's involved in anymore, and it loses money |
