Find another Hall for Risto trade and pull the trigger then. The issue is the rest of the league thought very highly of him as well. I still have my doubts that offer was made but whatevs.

Klefbom for Risto straight up or with some small addition isn't a good deal. That's all.

Same as Oilers, hence why they would move Klefbom for him, to better balance their D. A gain, why the Sabres, especially with Dahlin now wouldn’t make that trade and become more lopsided.

The facts a) Carlson just had a barn burner year, and b) salaries are increasing over time.
Seems to a $4m contract signed years ago would equate to say $5m now...multiple that by a significant increase in production...boom, much bigger than $6.5 - $7m.
