Yes, it was a cross check, but it was also enough of a dive that you're not going to see that called in the final. Regular season, maybe.

And of course the Wilson hit wasn't legal. That's why it was called a penalty. What a stupid question.

I think if it were the other way around then nobody would really care. So many people just hatin on the Knights

The reffing has been bad all around, it's like the refs are just relying on the video replay to do their jobs. Maybe we need ref drones, kick these bums out!

Tom Wilson is no saint, but in my opinion this hit was not only clean but exactly the kind of calling card the Caps want to send.
- Eklund

Well, you got the first part and the last part right. The middle part is completely wrong, though.

Off topic, but is anyone interested in joining a 31 team simulation hockey league? It's like EA be-a-gm on steroids basically. You manage an NHL team, an AHL team and prospects. Sign players to contracts, set your lineups and strategies, and then all the games are simulated. We've got a couple open spots in the league right now, and at least one VERY good team is available.

I'll probably post this a few times for maximum visibility since it's the down time and people aren't around as frequently. Hope I'm not violating any ToS... If you're interested reply to me here, or if you want to send me an email it's the same as my forums user name @gmail.com. I can answer any questions or tell you more if you're interested. Thanks!

"at any other time, no it would not have counted, but the finals are rigged by the nhl to have vegas win, the NHL is a joke of a league. vegas could ice a tea, of 60 years old amateurs and the nhl would make sure they win."

Yet you are watching it, and on here posting..do us all a favor and delete your account. if you honestly think the NHL is rigged, stop watching its not that hard..

also hockey is not a sport that is easily rigged.. sure some calls may be bad but for Franks sake if you have ever played you know things happen fast and weird bounces happen to every one. unless you got magnets in the puck or some crap idk...

some "Fans" have taken a few to many shots to the head I think

Nice that you focus on a crosscheck that resulted in a goal before a blindside, late hit by a reoccurring offender that resulted in a player spending time in concussion protocol.

Was it a crosscheck? Yes. Does it happen in nearly every game? Yes again.

Now flip that...

Was it a blindside and late hit? Yes. Does it happen regularly in the current Capital run? YES.

Former NHL ref Kerry Frasor was on radio in Buffalo today and said, If he were calling the game Wilson would have received a 5 minute penalty and a game misconduct, on the basis that Marchessault made the pass and 0.8 second had elapsed, which is the time frame provided by the league safety committee as the amount of time that should pass before a hit is considered late. He also stated that while it is the responsibility of a player to be aware of what is going on around him, the Vegas player would have needed an eye in his ear or in the back of his head to know Wilson was about to crush him from behind. It was on Wilson to back off from making an illegal hit. He also said it should have been Cross-Checking and no goal.

The NHL's department of player safety has a time-frame for what is considered a "late" hit (it is supposedly 0.6 seconds after a player gives up the puck, but they never actually reveal what the times are on late hits), but there doesn't seem to be any concrete rule or guideline for it.
