Simmonds is slowing down and I have concerns over retaining him as he gets into his 30s (like Lucic). Besides we need more speed.
- MaximumBone

I wouldn't say slowing down. He was playing with injuries during the year. Check out the following link:

https://www.cbssports.com...itating-injuries-in-2018/

Played with a broken ankle, tore ligaments in his right thumb and torn muscles around the pelvic region, and missing teeth and still played 75 games out of the year and did fairly well. Yeah, so not really slowing down. And I wouldn't say he is injury prone as none of those injuries affected critical areas (knee ligaments, ligaments in the ankle [of which weren't affected]; maybe the torn muscles around the pelvic region can count, but he has no history of injuries prior to this year).

And Wayne Simmonds is pretty fast for a guy his size. Couple that along with a high hockey IQ and toughness. Don't know what else you would want.

Next year is his last year on a relatively cheap contract which is good and bad. Good since he will likely perform at a good level (contract year). Bad since it is a contract year and he could be asking for more than what we are willing to give. Nonetheless, still an option for Chia to consider if he is actually available.

Hmmm... gotta include a signed Taylor Hall Jersey as well or no deal.
- EdmHockeyMan

It will be a Hall jersey but it will be signed by John Moore.

I would want no part of Simmonds and his next contract

I’d rather it be signed by Stanley Cup Champion Ben Lovejoy.

The next contract is the only con I see taking him on. Probably would end up with something similar to Lucic. Too much money, too much term either way.

5-6m for 3-4 years would be ideal, but it'll probably be 6m for 6 years or even more. Maybe even 7m per.

Dangerous proposition, word is that Hall inherited his choppers from his moms side of the family.

Kane just signed a 7x7 and Simmonds is arguably the better player. He’ll get something similar and we simply can’t afford him.

I'd be a happy camper if we can acquire a top 6 RW and a top 4 RHD PP specialist during this offseason.

Also, surprised Wayne Simmonds name hasn't been floated around here. I think he would make a great addition if Philly is willing to let him go this offseason. Don't know what Philly would accept for him though.

Through free agency, or do you have some retarded trade proposals you would like feed back on?

Two ways to take this into meaning:

1)
We have a player who puts up 50+ points consistently (46 while playing through injuries), isn't a liability, a fantastic pk'er, has a high hockey IQ, skates relatively quickly for a player of his size, tough as nails, and gives it his all (is noted for being the "heart and soul" of the team)? Well, please enlighten me!

And if you say Lucic.....

2) You racist mothafuka.

Well Lucic isnt a coon so I have no idea what youre talking about. But we have enough size, truculence and toughness. We need real speed and scoring, neither of which he provides enough of, and certainly not for what it would cost us. Be better.

F/A will be our best bet, but if it's that route, it's Ilya or bust honestly since all other options will want to cash in on money and term. If Chia can somehow get a Neal or Perron signed at a deal for under 3 years... well, I'll be damned.

No retarded trade proposals at the moment.

I would look at Neal for 2-3 years if it were no more than 5 million, but he’ll get better offers.
