Hayton was overshadowed in Sault Ste. Marie by top NHL prospects Morgan Frost (Philadelphia Flyers), Boris Katchouk (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Taylor Raddysh (Lightning), but at least one NHL scout saw enough to think highly of him.
"He thinks the game well," the scout said. "He's a good complementary guy. Looks like he can play with any type of player. Plays the game in any way he needs to to be successful."
4. Question of the day
Ottawa defenseman Kevin Bahl, No. 29 on Central Scouting's final ranking of the top North American skaters, was a bit surprised when a team asked what he hates about hockey.
"I don't hate anything about hockey," he said. "What am I supposed to hate about hockey? There's nothing to hate about hockey. So that was definitely one of the weird questions." |

🤔 Can you name a legit 1st pairing Dman that become one after 3 seasons? - manvanfan
Seth Jones, Victor Hedman, Eirk Karlsson, Duncan Kieth... off the top of my head. They take longer to develop, which is a well known fact. Yet somehow Hanafin has peaked at 21 |

I think it's more an issue of partners than anything.
Hanifin has seen a steady rotation of D partners for most of his career, the vast majority of which were not NHL calibre players.
When he's bumped up to a higher pairing/more minutes with Faulk, he thrives, but Faulk stunk up the joint so you don't really want them playing together.
When he's saddled with Klas Dahlbeck, well, he doesn't get to play much.
Last year he showed a lot of improvement in playing a more consistent role with TVR. It's not that Hanifin has played poorly, it's that Bill Peters used him poorly.
My guess is that with a new coach that worries more about how a guy is playing than where he is standing on the ice at a very specific moment, he's going to thrive. - BINGO!
Playing with Tanev and on the PP1 is a good example of how Hanafin could easily vault into a position where all of the sudden he is living up to the lofty expectations.
What do you think of 7 and DiPietro? I think it's a pretty good start, which would have to be added to but Carolina given their goalie trouble may consider.

If we managed to get Hanifin(likely using 7oa) and traded Hutton and MDZ for w/e I like the look of
Hanifin-Tanev
Edler-Stetcher
OJ-Guddy
much better than last year |

All them played three years before being in the top pair. You should make an attempt to figure out how long each took to develop into top pair guys before just dismissing the names I've mentioned as random.
Keith 2 years AHL,2 years NHL before being in the top pair
Hedman 4 years in the NHL, 1 year KHL before top pair
Jones 3 years bottom pair Nashville
Karlsson 2 years Sweden, 2 years NHL/AHL before top pair
None of these examples moved onto the top pair before 21, most of them were older except Jones who stepped in around that time. Hanafin went straight into the NHL at 18, has done all of his developing years in the show (arguably shouldn't have).

Yeah, that 3rd pairing would have to be heavily sheltered but the top 4 would be half-decent when healthy(lol) |

Nothing to do with the weird acting bits they literally just stood on the ice and played a song. |

Stecher is a 2nd pairing Dman and Guddy is a 3rd pairing.
I'd rather play Biega with Juolevi honestly |
