He can’t even make in in the ahl... is the point. And I said shows more potential ( where do you play to show you have potential... in the ahl. - gordong
The AHL is the worst I would have rather had him play against men over seas
You can be a bad AHLer and still tear up the nhl some players just play better at the next level

I do love how some kids are touted for playing in tough leagues against grown men and achieve success, albeit lesser stats. But our boy Nylander is given every excuse imaginable.
The excuses are don, he’s no longer an immature kid..he’s 20, became built like a brick poop house at 19...so the physical excuses are just that. His mental attitude is all that is holding him back...playin* in leagues that encourage perimeter play are exactly the. Worst thing for him.

He's not quite in put up or shut up territory, but he needs to take a significant step this season. He's waiver exempt for 3 more seasons. We have other 'prospects' who are 2 years older and losing their waiver exemption. They are truly at their put up or shut moment. It should be a fun camp.

Fwiw the groin injury is pretty well understood to be one of the worst injuries in hockey. It effects your stride, your acceleration and overall speed greatly. If he's such a bad player that's getting excuses made for him, why did he end the year on that big tear? Was that what he looks like when he's focused or did his "physical excuses" like the groin injury really hamper him?
I agree he looked poopty the previous year, but last year he really came on at the end of the year and looked to be one of their better scoring threats. He isn't going to be his brother, so perhaps that makes him a bust for 8th overall, but I still think he can be a middle 6 scoring winger that can help on the PP. |

An update from the combine....every non-Buffalo team is open to and listening to offers about trading up and/or down. Possibly trading left too. They are also all interested in adding another first round pick.

Well, I disagree with the categorization of his year ending on a tear...at least how I view a “tear” to be...but yes it was an improvement...I want to see a bigger improvement though...
-His last 38 AHL games he had 6G 15A
-His last 15 AHL games he had 3G 7A
-In 3 Playoff games he had 0G 0A
At least he was starting to get on the score sheet occasionally, 7 times in last 15 AHL games...but, like his profile in his draft year, he disappears for stretches of games...would like to see him become more consistent across games as well as within games.
What is wrong with factually critiquing his play while hoping like hell he turns it around and demonstrates consistency.
There is no doubt about it...he is on the clock...the question to debate is how long is the clock set for?
I could give him 2 more years in the A...IF he shows significant improvement this upcoming season.

Relax ... Gerbe is there to talk to both The ‘Canes and Habs management teams.
I’m expecting to have picks 1, 2, 3 by the end of the day. |

Nothing wrong with critiquing his play, just pointing out the fact that there may be more to it than just his effort level. He put on a lot of weight this summer. That takes effort. You could really see the difference in photos of him that he bulked up a lot. Then he gets hit with that injury and he's kind of back to square one. Time will tell. |

Seriously though...I would love to see JBotts slide into 5-7 somehow!
Select one of Bouchard, Boqvist, Dobson, Hughes
Assumes:
1-Dahlin
2-Zadina
3-Svinchnikov
4-Tkachuk |

Fair enough.
His body building was truly amazing for sure.
I do have confidence In him doing it again this offseason.
Good on him.
That said, he needs to take his coaches seriously as a carrier coach...get 8n the greasy areas, that is where to goals come from...the highlight reel goals with lots of time and space like the European game allows are far and few between in the NHL.
I know you know that, don’t mean to insinuate that you don’t...just trying to make my point clear.
He does that, his skill set will yield success for him. |

I can get on board with that. He has left something to be desired to say the least. Getting him going north south more could make a good change. Agree that the "battle" he has in him is lesser than you'd like, but I'd just think with his speed and tangibles that we could make something out of that. You're right though, the toe drag, Connolly moves and spin-o-ramas rarely result in goals. |
