Reasonably confident. I don't think his consensus hype is enough where he won't be there at #19. Ideally we can draft someone like Farabee at #14, perhaps Kravtsov or someone. Would I be against taking Berggren at #14 if Farabee was off the board? No, though I don't think it's the best "value." I have them back to back at 8 and 9 on my board fwiw. Otherwise, I certainly wouldn't mind taking Berggren at #14, then trading back #19 to pick up an early-mid 2nd. I think you can get an otherwise similar player at #23-25 as #19, then some steals with the 2nd. Berggren and Farabee are the apple of my eye though. Pulling both would be insane.

Love me some 20-80 scale. My farm draft starts this week.

I think we have talked about it. I understand what hockey sense is just think it can get lumped into other things. I’m not convinced it can’t improve and as you’ve acknowledged it is difficult to read in the first place.

I can think of recent examples of players who were knocked for hockey sense but haven’t been paying attention to know long term examples.

What would you say Voracek grades out at right now (apologies in advance for making you think about an older man)

- YuenglingJagr

If you're an offense-first player, like Kupari, the thought you don't process the play well with the puck and have bad tunnel vision and are mistake prone and typically play at one speed (to be specific) doesn't make me encouraged you'll "figure it out." His appeal is his skating and skill and offense, and I don't think he's as good an offensive player as his offensive skills because of it. He just lacks awareness out there. I don't know if you've watched him, but it's what I saw every time practically. He's not a unique case. I view hockey sense as just an innate intellect and awareness on the ice. I don't think it improves. Every player is improving and maturing their game at the same rate as you anyway. As I said, maturing your game and being an innately smarter player are not the same thing to me. I think Kupari tends towards poor; if you want to bank on significant (not even minor) improvement.....

I don't know what recent players you're talking about. Names would help. I may not have knocked them, so I can't say. What you consider improving could just be a bad evaluation. As for Voracek, it's hard to not acknowledge he can force plays or make gaffes, but he's not dumb. His ability to process play and weave and create and utilize space as an elite playmaker......you can't be dumb and do that. His tools are elite; his hockey sense is clearly above-average at the NHL level or he wouldn't be doing what he does. It's certainly not top tier or he'd be a consistent top 10 winger. Veleno, a player with not dissimilar tools, wishes he had Voracek's hockey sense.

Beagle is a solid dependable veteran role player. He's been huge this playoff.

I don't want the Flyers to sign him or a similar veteran role player as I feel the Flyers have players already on the roster or in the system that can fill those needs. I think it's more about how Hakstol deploys and utilizes his players. A lot of players on the Flyers were bouncing around in the lineup without (what seemed to me) a clear definition of what their role with the team would be. Between the scratching and shuffling from wing to pivot, coupled with sliding up and down the lineup, the team never really had clearly defined roles for some of their bottom 6. I think that makes things difficult in the big picture scheme - especially with younger players still trying to remain in the lineup.

Scott Laughton could be a Jay Beagle but because he was a 1st round pick and is still relatively young, there's unknown potential variables. It might be beneficial to the Flyers to define his role now as opposed to experimenting with him in a secondary/depth scoring role. The Goulbourne kid could be a Devante Smith-Pelly type forward. Obviously it remains to be seen if he can play regularly in the NHL. Just making the point that I believe the Flyers have players in their system that they can develop and define moving forward. No need or reason to sign another bottom 6 veteran.

Also this is playoff games not including this year. Take away Fluery and VGK only have 351 playoff games total of all of their skaters.

Smith Pelly and Beagle are objectively awful and hoping any of our prospects develop into similar players should be considered blasphemy of the highest order

No, and I probably wouldn't take him at 19 either, there will be better players available. He's not in my top 20 at the moment.

Lets offer our two picks for Detroit 6th pick. Or make an attempt on John Tavaras, though we aren't paying a playing 10 mil a year.

IMO, there is no one outside of Dahlin and maybe Zadina & Svechnikov that are worth moving up for and neither will be there at #6.

It appears German Rubtsov has recovered some of his first round pedigree after having a solid playoff run. At 6 foot and call it a playing weight of 190-195 at some point, would you make him part of a package to land a 3c?
