Building forward lines based on existing roster as of today:
ROR-Eichel-Okposo
Erod-Mitts-Reinhart
Wilson-Girgs-Baptiste
Bailey-O'Regan-Pominville
Smith
That's already better than last year
Now imagine adding a couple impact wingers via FA or trades involving picks. |

Nice work ion as per usual.
Nice list of 15 guys , 3 of which may return.
Leaves 12 new faces at least.
Players do not lose on purpose.
Management set this losing season in motion.

Seriously how do you know if they lost on purpose?
Why wouldn't they?

And they’ve busted on a number of 1st rounders as well
Need me to list them? - jdfitz77
In the last 10 years, they've busted on 1 first rounder, and actually drafted Carlson that year with the other 1st rounder.

Take a look at ion's list of the players who will most likely not return.
Point proven.
Everyone is overlooking these "speed" veterans that are available?

If he's not traded, larry's gonna be the 13th guy. Book it.
ROR will cry if he has to play wing. And if he's not made captain. |

I've responded to your list, and made it realistic. They're not overlooked, they're important and teams hold onto them. |

Actually they got Holtby and Carlson the year they picked the "bust".
And the Forsberg trade might be one of the all-time blunders |

Smith
6 out of 13 forwards before the draft , free agency or trades.
Seams about right.

They should add some old veteran speed like vanek.
He can take the place of moulson/ nolan/ pouliot.
You hate to see any of these young guys step up and lead. That's the worse case senario:

How many lists of new player rosters do you need?
How many out of organization veteran leaders do we need? That's how we got in this spot. Brilliant

ok? What does that have to go with having veteran leadership? What's wrong with bringing in a guy who's been in the league for 8-10 years and know what the (frank) they're talking about? A guy or two who can help guide the kids that have been here for 4 years or less? They don't need to be captain.
And no, I get it. I think, and know, based on personal experience, how important strong leadership is. You don't think it's necessary and that Jack can shoulder the load of an entire team. We won't change each other's minds apparently, so let's agree to disagree.
And to add. Yes, we have Okposo, we have ROR so far, we have Pommer and while Okposo and Pommer are said to be a pretty decent leaders, apparently ROR's leadership has been disappointing since his days in Colorado. Maybe Scandella has that influence on the D? If you can find the right fit for the 3rd or 4th line, it's worth looking into. I'm not saying to force it. But finding a guy that compliments our quiet, lead by example leaders currently on the team, wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. And no, it's not some not talent assclown, either. |

Sorry, but if the Sabres ink Vanek, I will lose all faith in the management team.
Old, slow and the antithisis of leadership.
Stay way from the young core, at all costs. |

I’d like to see them delay for another year on Jack.
Personally, he can still use another year of maturing...and hottake — Dahlin will eventually prove to be the heart and soul of this team. |

So hot. Cap'n Jack and skipper Rasmus. They'll be huge leaders for this team for a long time. |
