Compher was the other piece that sealed the deal, if they didn't have him I doubt the deal gets done. - GilPerreault11
Nah, ask 89. They wanted Justin Bailey but settled for Compher |
|
|
|
This is silly to argue about, but he was still considered a high upside prospect when we moved him which is exactly what Zadorov was.
I would agree that Zadorov was probably the main peice, but it went Grigo, the 31st and Compher as far as importance in that deal. - sbroads24
He was not the same area code as Zadorov |

Whatever, he was the next piece of value. They didn't have to haggle over getting Grigorenko |

Even so, a guy drafted in the mid-first as opposed to later rounds will have more trade value, even if they are underwhelming.

I don’t agree with this at all you should look up what line he’s played on and the minutes
His speed is not even remotely close to sam - gerbe75pts
As he is certainly faster, I compared them because of their draft position, offensive potential, dual position flexibility and the lack of ability to efficiently play the C position. |

Not really a fair comparison, as Reinhart is the beatboxer and Galchenyuk is the spitter |

The other two though… not so much. Mikhail Grigorenko was the prize of the Ryan O’Reilly trade and he hasn’t worked out either. Imagine being 6.5 shot attempts worse on a team as bad as the Avs because that’s what Grigorenko is working with. But even he isn’t as bad as Curtis Lazar, who somehow has hype behind him. Somehow. He’s got one point in 32 games this season and is one of the league’s worst possession players at minus-24 net shots per 60. Blame his linemates if you want, because Chris Kelly and Chris Neil are terrible, but even they’re doing better than him. Young reclamation projects are nice gambles on most deadlines, but this time around it’s hard to see as much upside given how these three have played.
Again, not defending him as a hockey player, but this wasn't the narrative at first - sbroads24

I would have to say that is incorrect, sorry my man, but the Avs insiders heard a much different story.
Grigo was in fact a throw in, a gift to patty Roy. Avs beat writers have gone on record saying that was the case when they acquired him based on their sources |

From my point of view,
Zadorov was the major piece u guys were getting |

Yeah, and I would say it's easy to say that now, and there is no report of that then.
And if he was a throw-in, It doesn't really make much of a difference |

that Roy got his pet to try to prove people wrong. IT was already rumoured to how bad the tension bw Sakic and Roy were with the direction of the team to that point.
Grigs was really just that, a throw in to make Roy Happy |

it was reported then, just bc Avs beat writers dont get much national attention, stuff like this just gets cherry picked by TSN and Hockey News guys.
The Denver post is trash so when a piece is picked up its usually from those guys and its always so embarrassing |

I think a “throw in” might be too harsh though
I’m guessing they thought he might reclaim his potential if he was coached by Roy again
I agree generally though
Definitely wasn’t on the same level as Zadorov at the time |

Girgensons with a 1st round pedigree >> Scott Wilson in terms of trade value.
There is always a GM or coach who liked a guy his draft year.
We saw Murray with Kulikov, Bogo etc |
