Even if he wasn't (He was, at least one of the top 3 peices) he still was a peice, and my entire point was that draft pedigree holds trade value longer.

By all means, try and find an article that says Grigorenko was a "throw-in" or a insequential peice at the time of the deal. I couldn't.

Literally none of the peices in that deal was a back breaker.

Ask 89, they wanted Risto and Bailey, not Compher and Zadorov. If Zadorov was such a "main peice" it's kind of weird he wasn't there 1st choice

- sbroads24

Avs fans have heard something similar but they just asked about Risto but it wasnt like he was their 1st choice. Since it didnt make any sense. Already have EJ and Barrie as RHS Dmen, always were looking for a LHS Dman to play with EJ.

I dont think it was they wanted these 2 guys first were told no so they had to take Zads and Compher

It seems some on here are. Incredible.

Not me. He's got one more year before that designation imo. I would package him this off season though.

It was also rumored that the Avs would have gotten the 21st pick instead of 31 if we didn’t move on Lehner that day.

Seems Grigorenko was the only mainstay in that deal

*Probably Late*

I see Vegas is putting Tatar in the line-up....I don't know if this is the spark that's necessary...but SOMETHING has to change.

- feetontheair22

I'm rooting for Vegas all the way, but the Caps look like Vegas did in the prelims, just steamrolling teams. I think that win against the Pens made them feel invincible, finally beating them.

One of my employees signed an AHL deal with Ontario after his college season ended. Moulson didn't demand to be sent there but the Sabres guys asked him where he wanted to go knowing he was going to the AHL.

The Sabres did in fact do him a "favor" sending him there.

Moulson and Quick are brother in laws.

Moulson's wife is Quick's sister.

Happy wife, happy life.

I think the 21st turned into the 31st and Grigo to make the values work.

Grigo was such a wild ride....all the talent but the best way to describe him, he played like a guy that did not want to have the puck

I dont believe the Kings can afford a Kessel trade. I think a package around Muzzin would work. But LA would need to shed more salary and Pitts would rather not take on more salary.

Grigorenko had 36 points in 43 games in Rochester the year before he was traded.

Edit- Year he was traded

If Nylander does that, he's all the sudden a high end prospect again.

This is silly, Grigo was a highly touted prospect still when we moved him

- sbroads24

Really...?
So u were still thinking he’d be a good top6 center for us?
I’d say most ppl had pretty much given up on that

You can choose to believe that
- jcragcrumple

So you're going to tell me with a straight internet face that if Nylander suddenly becomes close to a PPG player in the AHL next year, people won't change their tune on him?

Come on now

I'm with ya. I want Vegas to win...but the way the Caps are playing right now they look almost unstoppable. But that could change of course.

Either way...games 1 and 2 were awesome...lets hope they get back to that type of hockey regardless of who wins.

We are woefully thin at LW, almost embarrassingly, and we're trading him?

I'm not sticking up for the kid (and 'kid' is the key word here) and his play, but (and I know I've said it 50 times) he was thrust into a league he may not have been ready for. We all know that if you don't properly develop a kid, it has lasting effects (how many times have we seen this?). Most prospects don't hit the AHL until age 20, yet here he was, and is, playing in a very tough league as an 18 year old, and we're supposed to run him out of town because of our own stupidity?

Like most have soured on Nylander....But I guarantee you some team might still want him, especially if he starts producing in the A

I find it weird that Kessel would be moved in general

Yeah, of course people would - me included. He needs to up his game in the A, or make the show and look like he belongs. If he puts up another mediocre season in the A, he's a reclamation project. If he improves his numbers, he'll be perceived as a late (I'm using this loosely) bloomer.

I think that's definitely true. He has good "package value"

32 + Nylander probably gets you something reasonable

Which is honestly the only thing I care about.

And if he wasn't picled 8th overall he'd have 0 value right now

Alex Nylander is a reclamation at (barely) age 20 if he was traded today? Are we really saying that? Ffs.
