Pettersson is one player I'd personally bank on becoming a good NHL player. Insert Captain Obvious here!

In three years I expect the Canucks to be a better team but I'm not about to throw them (kids) out there in every situation or even pencil most kids outside of Pettersson in the lineup right now. So I agree with insulating them, which means I agree with you, however, I don't think you need to insulate them with great players, just players.

Sutter won't be on the team in three years and hopefully some youth finds its way to becoming great players.

Things I can promise will and won't happen this year

Top 6 prospect and 165 lb beanpole Pettersson will not be playing shut down against other teams top line with Brandon Sutter


Canucks will replace the second line vacated by the departure of the Sedins

Canucks will acquire a top 6 center and it will piss off half the people here.

No....I said you can't call Bennings picks NHL players until they've played a full season. People were saying Gaudette an NHL player because he played five games at the end of the year, that doesn't classify him as a winning draft pick for Benning

It's just my personal opinion, but I don't think the Canucks should be trading any of their youth for shortcuts. If you wanna trade a Baertschi or Granlund or Motte or even Goldobin sure, they're fringe players.

However, I wouldn't be trying to trade kids like Gaudette for two reasons, 1) because he's youthful and you don't really know what you've got 2) because he's a center.

Winning the Hobey means squat, it's nice, for him, but in NHL terms, I don't know who 80% of the guys who won it are because they're either bit NHL'ers or they didn't make the NHL at all. Just my opinion.

Gaudette is trying to find his game also . He needs to play with experience too same as EP

It's not going to happen. If we need a contingency at C that should be drafted next year. Dmen often take much longer to develop. What's the point in strengthening the C position if we still have a gaping hole at D and have no prospects developing there?

It would be ridiculous for the Canucks to draft Kotkaniemi with more valuable players at the defense position still available.
