Dobson or Bouchard are not top pairing either. - VANTEL
You don't know that. I think Dobson will be. |

BPA. If he thinks that’s wahlstrom or kotiniemi, I’m all for it. I suspect it will be a dman though. - neem55
If either of those 2 still there, grab them, and go D heavy rounds 2-4. More picks please.... |

I think just from a value standpoint, raising
D men pays off more for rebuilding. AKA what is Hanifan going to fetch, what Larsson got for NJ.... minus Chia factor. You can flog them as needed later for forwards. - carsonagenic
The secret is drafting the right player.
Example : Segachev NHL body NHL shot in his draft year
Juolevi smaller expected to be high IQ . Lots of faults in his game
From what I have seen this year and I did watch a lot more this year than last is there are a lot of good Dmen in the second round and the drop off from Dobson is not that big |

The drop off from bodqvist to Dobson like defenders is huge though, if everyone reaches their potential, ppg rhd vs steady eddy 30point top 4.
Take the D or wahlstrom. |

Top 4, 40 point, 10g , Lhd who plays a safe game was his general floor and ceiling.
Safe pick, like Dobson.

He still could be. He hasn't even played in the NHL yet.
Also I know he was skinnier but he's actually taller than Sergachev. |

Ah, so you meant to ask...
Name me one team with 3 or 4 great defensemen that they've drafted high in the first round. No trades's |

I agree on the drop off not looking too big, so when better to go heavy D on picks? Plus, perceived misses on D picks (panicing on development, got to have it now gen.) still hold more value then a forward that doesn't perform in years 1-3 (like Virtanen). |

I am listening to Tony G at the moment and his take on prospects . It is one of the best takes ever. He said I refuse to make a prediction . He said pro scouts watch them all year and still screw up a high percentage of the time. He called a lot of the insiders posers lol. He said Bob Mac watches NHL games all year how does he get to scouting them - VANTEL

Did I say taller or NHL body
Bo has a NHL body and he is only 6'0 220 lbs
Sorry there is nothing that I have seen or heard about OJ to make me think he is a top 2 Dman |

Nonsensical argument, players drafted higher generally have a greater chance to reach potential.
Tell me how many of Vegas' Centremen were drafted in the first round by their original teams |

Wait until he has a couple of years in the NHL under his belt before you make that judgement. It's silly to typecast him this early |

The general discussion in here today seems to be you have to draft your first round pick to secure a top Dman so yeah |

It is equally as silly to typecast him as a top 2 Dman without having an NHL game under his belt.

BPA first pick, more positional as middle rounds go on, swing for talent with flaws later rounds. |

This statement is so wrong . If that was the case 90 % of all Dmen would be first round picks instead of the other way around

If Hughes or Wahlstrom is available you need to take them.
