I think it will be Wahlstrom or a d such as hughes/boqvist. They are pretty good up the middle, don't need to reach. - neem55
they're a moneyball team
they'll draft whoever they believe is bpa, regardless of position or passport |

Tangent... Going with buy low, would you / what do you think it would take to get Pool Party out of Edmonton. Being someone that resides in the greater armpit area (Edmonton) and has to listen to their drivel, you might get him for pennies on the dollar for the right offer. |

I agree, which means there's no good reason to suspect they reach for koktiniemi |

Is pool party a name you really expect people to know? |

That's true. I still think it's a reach based on what we do know about hughes, Wahlstrom and Bouchard IMO |

The chatter is not in top 6 maybe 4th line, so Virtanen like but Edmonton panic style. He was a top 5 pick but rushed in like all Oilers picks. If we could get him for anything like our perceived value for Virtanen. Could be a bargin. They want proven winger, but cost controlled to play with Draistel in 2nd line, and or puck moving Dman. Thanks to Chia, only have about 2-3 million to acheive this. - carsonagenic |

The general discussion in here today seems to be you have to draft your first round pick to secure a top Dman so yeah - VANTEL
You could at least start with one or two.... for a top D. |

people say this a lot, but no one has ever really found any evidence of this in practice. |

I’m sure their scouts have a say, but unlike most teams I’d bet that they flat out eliminate some prospects off of their list who don’t meet a certain criteria/standard statistically |

We getting Gabe Vilardi from Kings? - Reubenkincade
I hope not, Canucks need to stick to the plan of going for the speed/skill game. Vilardi is only one of those, which is why he dropped int the draft. |

Sutter is the Canuck that has been most called about by other GM's. A draft day move would be nice for a pick or two, I'd like to see JB do this move, bring in a UFA like Rask or Ryan. If we ended up with another late first from Ana/SJ/LA (as the report says they are interested) that would be phenomenal. The first round of this draft is pretty solid. IMO you can get a guy that fits our future playing style with a pick, rather than Vilardi. |

I would be fine with that extra 1st, as well.
I also like many players well into the 2nd round & a few players in the 3rd
Could be another good draft for Benning.

Boeser isn't a great skater and we all love him, you honestly wouldn't be interested in Vilardi? |

So you 100% prefer the pick over Vilardi, eh? Interesting. |
