We need to rebuild. Add via free agency or look at spezza.

Giving up assets at this stage is stupidest poop ever. We should be dealing guys for extra picks not once again giving up picks for players who wont be here in a couple years... benning and linden need to be fired.

It's like you think they already made the trades everyone is speculating about

Still funny to me that Trotz started Grubauer in games 1&2 vs. CBJ

The canes did this when they won the cup too didn’t they ? Maybe they didn’t start the other guy in games 1/2 but I’m sure Ward didn’t play the entire playoffs

philosophically

should have said it would "signal" the rebuild is over - that they'd be expecting an upward trend

why wouldn't buffalo and carolina just trade oreilly for hanifin themselves? jimbo would have to offer something extra wouldnt he?

Excluding players like Tkachuk and Wahlstrohm, who are probably more suited as wingers, the top centres, Kotkaniemi, Veleno and Hayton are in the 9 -14 pick range....are you suggesting trade down.
- Reubenkincade

Take Kotkaniemi don't bring in more contracts like Bozak or Spezza. Leave Pettersson in Sweden one year, leave Gaudette and Dahlen in Utica and run with Gagner Leipsic Motte Sven and Granlund and end up in last then draft Jack hughes

Another solution is take the best Center in this draft . The D can stop gap the next 3 years as is. Run with the same crap forwards and collect another high pick next year. Draft a Dman in the second and third
- VANTEL

yeah fair enough. depends on player preference i guess?

plus we'd have a longer window sticking with our own picks than aging up with oreilly and hanifin

This teams goal should be trying to get another 1st round pick in 2019 at all costs.

Hosting the draft and having two firsts would be great PR

- classic321

Exactly. I'm an Edler fan, and with this teams D pipeline, I'd gladly trade him at the TDL then resign him for 2 years. He eats a lot of minutes and probably has good value around the league. As long as he plays like he did last year.

I'll be at the draft next year. Anyone else planning on going. We can sit their on our phones, messaging to each other on HB haha, so lame.

What if the plan is

Sutter OJ for ROR?

Hanifin for the 7 th?

There is your center and NHL young Dman

- VANTEL

No.
No.

I know this isn't your idea, you're just spitballing. I just don't wanna trade any prospects. I havn't given up on OJ. I think I said it a few pages back:

This team can't afford to moves prospects.

All this speculation has me afraid JB is gonna try and take another shortcut in the rebuild. I'm not sure it's time to make these kind of deals.

My guess is solid 3-4 with upside. Matty Ohlund clone would be great.
- carsonagenic

Hamhuis maybe? Could pair on the top D line (if we ever get a 1). But really a very good 3-4 in his prime.

I am okay with a lot of options but my main concern is if you bring in Pettersson give him good players to play with or don't bring him in yet

For my birthday today, all I wish for is that JB is able to get another 2nd and another 3rd round pick for the draft in 17 days.

I feel that i'm not asking for much.

- manvanfan

Aiming low, if you're going ti be disappointed, aim high. Ask for a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd.

Happy birthday

this happened several years in a row, where a team that changed goalies mid-playoffs won the cup. its weird how many times its happened

2005/06 - gerber/ward
2006/07 - gigeure/bryzgalov
2007/08 - hasek/osgood

2014/15 - crawford/darling
2015/16 - fleury/murray
2016/17 - fleury/murray
2017/18 - grubauer/holtby* (assuming this is a done deal )

i do think trading demko would be a big mistake. after the carousel of goalies that came before luongo and how markstrom's career has gone, i think they should want both him and dipietro until someone grabs the job in the nhl

jets almost made a similar mistake with the whole hutchison/hellebyuk/comrie/mason/pavelec group in the past few years. one finally emerged and they sttill have to pay a guy $4.1m to ride pine

So I saw that the Ducks (LA too) have an interest in Sutter, but what could one expect back in return for him. I'm not sure he's worth a 1st (maybe), but more likely a 2nd, would that be enough? Maybe there is some bad money the Canucks can eat that would entice Anaheim to give up a first to get him. Would it be a first this year or next?
Thoughts?
