The type and style of game that Simmonds plays does not guarantee that he will be injured. He's played that way all of his career and before last year he has been very durable. - MJL
True but to counter, what if last year was the start or this season with the style and play catching up on him? |

Sabres need everything except C’s.
They’re terrible on the wing, don’t have a starting goalie and desperately need D - Nucker101
I'd think their #1 priority would be to get a decent goaltender |

There was a documentary on NBCSN late night about the Czech national team winning olympic gold in 1998. I was too young to pay attention/care too much back then, but it was a well done documentary and was really awesome to watch vintage Hasek highlights. That guy was incredible |

Snow let go by the Isles. Gonna take a wild guess that he couldn't get a deal with Taveras done. |

MARTIN KAUT (RW)
Kaut played quality minutes in all-situations against men for his Czech Extraliga team (3rd line, PK2, PP2) and really put up the numbers late in the season. He's an October birthday, with a lot of physical and style maturity to him and his game, so he’s far from being raw. But it does make projecting him very easy as a safe player with a high floor, but one with a nice mid-ceiling too who can mesh well with higher skilled players. His upside might not be explosive, but the hope for him as a well-rounded 25 goal, 50-55 point player —and one with a quick NHL path — seems very plausible.
His non-stop motor, without being reckless is his most identifiable feature. Good size and frame, and he’s a handful even against men in the below the dots game. Strikes me as the type that will excel on small ice in the NHL. Could work on the starts and footwork but a sneaky powerful skater in stride. Kaut is skilled and versatile, with a noticeably plus shot that he’s not hesitant to use, either off the rush or in the cycle game -- be it a one timer or slap shot or snap shot, he grades highly all-around as a shooter. If I had to point to his best offensive attribute that sets him apart from other high floor mid-late 1sts in this draft, it’s that combined with his below the dots strength.
A real smart kid too up and down the ice, with and without the puck — he’s a player who PLAYS fast. Playmaking isn’t his best strength, though he’s not deficient either. At very worst, he has good awareness and moves pucks quickly to his teammates to keep play flowing. His defense is a noticeable positive as well, at even strength or on the penalty kill. He’s a player who is totally committed to every little detail on the ice every shift.
I have him at ~15.
That's awfully low for interview totals for such a money-in-the-bank NHL prospect. Seems like a mature kid, and he's certainly the type NHL guys like. Especially given his recent issue you'd think he'd do the rounds more, although that's pretty separate. Weird. But the Flyers interviewed him, and if I know the Flyers scouting -- and I think I do -- he'd be someone they'd like very much. There are some players I like more, but he'd be a real solid #19 pick.
Wonder if he'd be a trade down candidate too if his buzz isn't there for whatever reason, surgery or not, more to the Rangers range. It's why, if I was in charge, and Farabee wasn't there at #14, the thought of taking Berggren at #14 and trading down from #19 sounds tempting in this draft. Imagine pulling Berggren and Kaut (who style-wise would make an awesome combo at LW/RW), and then having a top 40 pick too in this draft. Wowzuh. |

I am scared that he'll sign something 5 years and then injuries continue to mount. I know people think he will have this resurgence like Giroux did but they play two different games. Simmonds game is about taking a punishment and not sure that helps as he continues to age. - J35Bacher

I believe Reimer is a better goalie and an upgrade.
Also stated whoever it may be; doesn’t have to be Reimer.
So your are comfortable going into next year with what they currently have? - rinaldo
Very comfortable. Elliott/Neuvirth/Lyon already showed they could get this team to the playoffs, and there's also Stolarz as another option if he can stay healthy. Let Hart play a full season in the AHL and then decide what to do with the goalies going forward next summer. The last thing I want the Flyers to do now is use assets to acquire a goalie with term. |

They didn’t make the playoffs because of those guys at all. They were way down the list as to why the flyers snuck in.
They go into next season with those 3 they miss the playoffs imo. |

They also made it despite Manning, Lehtera, Filppula, and (in my opinion) the coach. The goaltending, if healthy (big if) is not at the top of my list of concerns.
I don't expect Giroux to have another 100+ point season, but I do expect internal growth from our young players, better depth, and a bounceback (at least to a degree) from Simmonds. They won't be a contender, but they should be a playoff team. |
