yes that was a poor choice of words, I didn't mean that about Hanifin, he's obviously a young guy with good skills.

More of the Gubranson, Baertschi, Sutter and Pouliot type guys who's he's spent draft picks on acquiring.

I just gotta ask myself though, why is Hanifin available? He's poor defensively and only puts up just ok offensive numbers, it's been said by NHL insiders like Ferraro that they don't see him as any more than a 30 - 35 point guy so I don't get what all the fuss is about.

- LeftCoaster

for a team wanting to make the playoffs its less weird to want to trade a young asset for something to help you get in. but if demko is the target, seems odds that a they would trade a young d for a goalie that still needs time before he can make a difference

I’m guessing this isn’t about his on ice play

Canes fans wanted Faulk traded prior to this

- Nucker101

Faulk is also not the best on the defensive side of things, that's ok if you're putting up some good offensive numbers, but neither of them do.

You know, this franchise pisses me off with it's ass-backwards approach to everything!! That 2014 draft still pisses me off, their approach to that year and the waste of young guys like Tryamkin and Forsling, not to mention the 2nd round pick they wasted on Vey and could have drafted a good young dman, has just made me sour.

Just no plan back then on how to build for the future, everything was about right now, angry still

Agreed, they definitely should have hired a feelings coach for Tryamkin. The outrage

He had his own issues for sure, but when you invest time and effort into players, your core business, it may have turned out differently.

Just my opinion, now and back then, at the mid point of the season or in January when all hope was lost why didn't they coddle him a bit, feed him tons of ice-time....stuff like that just bugs me about the team.

Shannon - Mike Babcock and Auston Matthews had their meeting in Arizona about the direction of the team moving forward. I keep hearing the meeting didn't go very well from a Babcock perspective.

Figured you would like this

I personally do not like twitter, but this news is awesome to hear. Keep up the good work on reporting anything detrimental to the Leafs.

May I suggest that you consider counselling, to have and hold anger issues over something that you have no influence or control over is not healthy.

You can deny that there is an issue, but the repetitive posts and comments show there is an issue.

I'm only putting this out there because I care and I ya man.

Then why did Benning offer up his best Dman for ROR?

I have heard the offer from other sources than Taj but he is still an idiot.

- VANTEL

Sources? More than one other? And what is a source? I know I've pointed out on many occasions that a group repeating a source does not increase the number of sources...

More @botchford: You look at the draft: Boeser, home run. Pettersson, looks like home run. Gaudette, possibility of being home run. Tryamkin had the potential. There's a lot of check marks. The draft is where they do well. Trades and signing FAs, a ton of misses

I would question this because there's no mention of Virtanen and Juolevi, but I will say this, last year has a ton of potential!!

- LeftCoaster

Rarely omits the negatives but guaranteed to omit positives every time he opens his mouth.

I know you are big on how people present themselves. It annoys me how Botchford squirms around in his seat when he talks. I swear that the inspiration for his writing has a suction cup on it...

And anything new on Calgary losing their NHL team due to not having an arena to play in after the Saddledome is condemned and the owners have a hissy-fit because the tax payers won't build them a new one. Just in case Red isn't around to keep us in the loop.

If there is any example of not planning for the future, it's Gillis. JB pulled us out of that at least... and obviously the owner was a big factor when JB arrived and they continued down that path.

yes, any sources should be provided. TAJ is NOT a source and should involve an insta 26 week ban for all offenders

I'll be ok...just food for thought as someone always gets on that with a counter argument as to why I shouldn't feel this way.

I was just venting, I'll be ok. If I could come up with one example though, it'd be the fact in four years not once has Benning or Linden, because they're in this together, come up with more than their allotted seven draft picks and actually used them to draft kids.

They had more in 2014 but traded a 2nd for Vey and a 3rd for Dorsett. They were missing a 4th rounder that year because Gillis traded it for Zac Dalpe.

On a positive note: I boiled up a fresh batch of 4 cups water 1 cup of sugar and let it cool, filled all the hummingbird feeders and they're all over the backyard this afternoon...they make me happy as I sit and watch them drinking an ice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon and smoking one of my last Cuban Cigars.

That wasn't because of Benning or Linden, it was because the NHL awarded them a pick because CBJ hired Tortorella while still under contract to the Canucks.

They had 7 picks when they walked into the draft. JB made a trade and they left with 8 prospects. Just saying

Actually they didn't have all their picks going into the draft, they traded their 5th for Larsen from the Oilers and their 6th for Emerson Etem. They were down two picks but flipped the Hansen 4th rounder to Chicago for a 5th and 6th rounder giving them seven picks.

Plus the NHL award them a free one, as I just mentioned. It had nothing to do with Benning or Linden acquiring it.

I don't care how the picks originally left, my point was that they left with more than 7 prospects. He made a trade to acquire more picks, the thing everyone wanted him to do.
