It would be a HUGE mistake. He is definitley the most likely to bust this draft. Dobson is a rock although I fear he won't make it to 7. I just hope the Canucks draft Whalstrom if he is gone. - CanuckDon
As much as I want a dman, i would not be against having a 2nd Boeser in the lineup. I do think that Hughes will be the 2nd best dman in this draft, if hes there at 7 it should be a no brainer. |

I would not be sad with Dobson.

Dobson Hughes and Wahlstrom. Worst case scenario they are all taken and we have to pick from Bouchard Boqvist and Tkachuk. If that is the case and we don't trade down I hope we take Bouchard. |

same on all accounts! Unless the scouts are confident in Kotkaniemi...he is the wild card. I haven't watched him enough to know how much his skating has improved. |

I would think we could trade down a spot or 2 to get him. If he's gone then take whoever dropped. That said, I think D should be the priority |

Boqvist is the biggest swing for the fences, if he reaches his potential he'll be an elite ppg hof rhd for us, he's also the 2nd biggest chance to bust after Huge... err... I mean Hughes.
Hughes is 2small to enter be an elite number one defensemen, he , and his 5foot 6inch frame will top out as a 60 point 25 goal pp specialist ala Brian Campbell or Tyson Barrie, good players but to small to even think about playing the penaltykill.
Bouchard doesn't quite have boqvists ceiling, lacks the speed and the shot, but he's bigger, and has great awareness, I could see him racking up 60to 70 point 10g seasons, but I now see him being a 40 point guy who can't adjust tothe speed of the nhl, number 2or 3 on the depth chart. Safer then bodqvist or Hughes, but less upside.
Dobson is the safest of the 4. He's big enough to be a top pairing and does allot of things very well, but nothing elite. He's got a good shot but nothing like boqvist, he's faster then bouchard, slower then Hughes and boqvist, sees the ice well, not as good as bouchard though. I see him with a 40pint 15g ceiling and a 40 point 7g floor. A safe pick, ala virtanen and OJ.
I'm not in favor of a safe pick this year, we need a rhd home run, and there is only one that meets those criteria.
I'd be happy if we land any of them or wahlstrom. But Boqvist is my pick, never mind what the old time hockey guys think. |

I am strongly against trading down when you are this high in the draft. We could have tried to trade down last year and lost EP. Be confident, grab your guy and don't worry if he is ranked 2-3 spots lower. |

I guess what I'm thinking is if the 6 that we want are gone where we pick, there might not be a guy that excites the nucks too much at 7, but you're not wrong about refusing to trade down with a top 8 or top 10 pick |

Looks like every dman in this draft will end up hitting 40+ points per season. Legendary draft depth! |

So.... his comparable, Karlsson, isn't an elite ppg, hof, rhd?
It's not written in stone, prefaced by the, if he reaches his potential.
What's dobson's ceiling? Elite number 4? Floor number 5. Safe. |

If your guy is gone by then, best get more picks then, why pick someone that's lowest on your list and reach when you can trade the pick and maybe pick up a lower 1st and extra 2nd round pick while you're at it.
Truthfully, I'm not sold on any of the D behind Dahlin, they all have holes in their game and the D that's projected to be available at 7 is a slightly more offensive OJ which frankly doesn't excite me. I'd be wanting to see what Arizona would take to move down a couple of spots to be able to get a shot at Wahlstrom, Bouchard or Hughes. |

Well, only a few weeks now until this all plays out, really hoping they can get another 2nd round pick. I wonder who'll be left on that defence of ours?
All I heard at the end of the year was the Canucks can't go into next season with that same defence yet I hear Benning saying he doesn't want to move anyone from back there? |

often we hear mixed messages. not sure if it is JB playing a little coy?
I'm hoping for some changes. Just difficult when you are a team that is towards the bottom of the standings. Who has interest in our #3 to 8 dmen? on which teams would these players be an upgrade?
I will be disappointed if all the same are back. |

He said he's not wanting to move Tanev but I'm not sure if that's a ploy or not? If he keeps him there's no way Greener is playing Juolevi on the top or second pairing with Tanev. He'll be sheltered with third pairing minutes. |
