Trading O'Reilly And or risto forces mitts to #2 center and creates a huge whole in rhd. We need a goalie and a winger for Jack. And bottom 6 productivity. - turbo044
I can see if both Mitts and Asplund make the team and show real signs of being capable at center (never mind where Erod fits in) then ROR might make good trade bait for this team at the tdl. Same with Risto...trade him for another rhd and its a wash. Trade him for a winger and what you said.
But I am skeptical that either will be dealt this summer and would be really surprised if Risto is gone at all. |

Straw man points my a$$
Is it easier to score 5v5 when u start in the Offensive zone instead of the defensive zone?
Yes or No
And is it reasonable to think a player would produce better when playing with Wilson & Reinhart... or Connor & Wheeler?
Both pretty obvious answers
But I’m sure you’ll avoid answering the questions so as to try & skew the discussion in a different direction
That’s your prerogative though i guess - jdfitz77
Bruh, he was top 25 in o zone starts. And no where near top 25 in EV scoring.
He’s a very solid defensive forward, who’s offense is very, very over rated |

I never banged a 10, but one night I took home five 2s.
I guess that puts me on the bottom 6, occasionally filling in on the top 9, but only when playing in Middle Zealand on Tuesdays and Sunday afternoons. - LandlordTom

I guess there’s a school of thought that if they don’t think ROR or Risto (or whoever) fits the role they want,
and u can trade them for someone who does then u should do it whenever u have the opportunity
Makes sense
But it might be another long season if we can’t fill holes that trading guys creates
Trading ROR and going with Mitts at 2C and Asplund or E Rod at 3C probably means no playoffs again
I’ve come around to the point where I’m willing to trade O’Reilly,
as long as it’s for the right return
And then we gotta at least find a good defensive 3C
Another bottom10 finish is gonna be pretty tough on this fan base |

Which is why i also bring up the linemates point
By no means am i saying he’s Crosby,
or even Burgeron
But somewhere in the late 20s as a Center seems about right to me
We all talk about finding better wingers for Jack....
why doesn’t that apply to ROR too?
PS.
Will u post a link to where u got the overall zone starts from?
I tried to look it up but couldn’t find it |

I had to look this up and found a handy "as the crow flies" calculator.
Assuming that thing isn't just making up its answers, Jacksonville to Miami actually is a longer distance as the crow flies (329 vs 292). But the driving distance from Buffalo to DC is longer than the driving distance from Jacksonville to Miami.
Also, it turns out DC and NYC are almost exactly the same distance (1 mile difference) from Buffalo as the crow flies. - JetpackJesus

Is it bad to hope that that stage sinks into the water electrocuting everyone? Not killing them, just knocking them unconscious for a minute or 2. |
|
|
|
Is that the majority opinion?
Everyone knows he’s held in high regard
And as far as the Analytics argument goes,
those were Sbroads words i was repeating
And he wants ROR gone
Do u have links where particular sites rank players?
I’d be happy to check it out
I don’t go to these sites though,
and i haven’t seen anyone posting rankings that put him in the 40s or wherever u guys think he belongs
Everything I’ve seen has O’Reilly ranked in the mid20s - jdfitz77
Don't really feel like digging them up again. Feel like I explained them pretty well for you a couple weeks ago. Keep in mind that all these composite rankings also rank Pomminville and Girgensons among the top Sabres last season. They deserve scrutiny.
I really don't put much weight on what media experts say. They are in the entertainment business and get things wrong as much as weathermen. If you ask them what they think the Sabres can get for RoR, I'm sure there's a huge variation. If you ask them if Schiefele is better, there'd be a debate there too.

It's not
Its pretty close though like 40 miles or so
Also 6 hours from Jacksonville to Miami driving
6:45 from Buffalo to DC by driving - Stripes77
The Earth doesn't care about roads. It's ~330 miles from Jacksonville to Miami and ~290 from Buffalo to DC according to Google Maps "measure distance" tool. |

Yeah, rain showers don't need roads. It's also deceiving because the farther south, well, to the equator anyway, you go the same amount of space on a normal map indicates longer actual distances. |
